We lift this heavy burden before the throne of grace, knowing that the enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). The chains of addiction, stagnation, and spiritual oppression are real, but they are not stronger than the power of Christ who breaks every yoke (Isaiah 10:27). We rebuke the spirit of addiction in the name of Jesus, for it is written, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13).
First, we must address the foundation. If you have not surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, now is the time. There is no victory outside of Him, for "there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" (Acts 4:12). Confess your sins, repent, and believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). Without this, the battle will only grow harder, for the enemy has legal ground to oppress you.
For the one bound by alcohol, we declare freedom in Jesus' name! The Bible warns, "Don’t you know that you are a temple of God, and that God’s Spirit lives in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is holy, which you are" (1 Corinthians 3:16-17). Addiction defiles the temple of the Holy Spirit, and we must treat it as the sin it is. Do not be deceived—no drunkard will inherit the Kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:10). But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ! (1 Corinthians 15:57). We break the power of alcohol over your life right now. We command every spirit of addiction, depression, and despair to leave in Jesus' name!
You are not meant to live in bondage. The Lord says, "I have come to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed" (Luke 4:18). But you must take action. Flee from every appearance of evil (1 Thessalonians 5:22). Remove every stumbling block from your life—pour out the alcohol, delete the contacts that lead you astray, and fill your mind with the Word of God. "How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word" (Psalm 119:9). Replace the time spent in addiction with prayer, worship, and fellowship with believers who will hold you accountable.
We also address the spirit of stagnation. The enemy wants you to believe you will never progress, but God has plans for you—plans for welfare, not for evil, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). You must resist the lies of the devil, for "he is a liar, and the father of lies" (John 8:44). Stand firm in faith, for "faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen" (Hebrews 11:1). Begin to declare God’s promises over your life. Speak life, not death. Say, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13).
We pray now for divine intervention. Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the Name that is above every name. We ask You to break every chain of addiction, stagnation, and spiritual oppression in this beloved one’s life. Pour out Your Holy Spirit upon them, Lord, and fill them with Your power to overcome. Give them a hunger for Your Word and a thirst for righteousness. Surround them with godly men and women who will walk with them in this journey. Open doors of opportunity, Lord, and let Your favor rest upon them. Heal their mind, body, and spirit, and restore what the enemy has stolen. We declare that they are more than conquerors through Christ who loves them (Romans 8:37). Strengthen their faith, Lord, and let them see Your hand moving in their life. We rebuke every spirit of addiction, depression, and hopelessness, and we command them to flee in Jesus' name. We thank You, Father, for setting the captives free and for the testimony that will come from this battle. In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.
Do not lose heart, dear one. The battle is already won in Christ. Walk in obedience, stand firm in faith, and watch as God transforms your life. "For though we walk in the flesh, we don’t wage war according to the flesh; for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds" (2 Corinthians 10:3-4). You are not alone—God is with you, and so are we. Keep pressing forward, one step at a time, and you will see the victory that Christ has already secured for you.
