Spirit of control and manipulation

Beloved of All
All the people who are ignoring me or are arrogant and disrespectful, lord let their behavioir change drastically for the better. Some need to apologize, some need to make an effort to greet me and have basic communication with me. Lord remove any arrogance and pride, remove that JEZEBEL spirit in Jesus name!! It seems like it follows me everywhere and appears in one way or the other as spirit of pride, arrogance, control, disrespect and manipulation. Sincemy young age...

We hear the heaviness in your heart and we join you in bringing this before the Lord, for this burden of feeling disrespected, ignored, controlled and manipulated since your young age is not small and God sees it fully.

We understand your desire for others to change, to show basic respect, to greet you and communicate and to humble themselves and apologize where they have wronged you. It is right to desire godly humility and respect in our relationships, and God does call all of us to put away pride and arrogance. Proverbs 16:18 tells us pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall, and James 4:6 reminds us God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Philippians 2:3 also calls us to do nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself.

At the same time we want to gently encourage you to release the desire to control how others must respond to you, even as you pray against a spirit of control and manipulation. When we pray for God to make people behave drastically differently or to force apologies, we can unintentionally step into the very control we are asking to be delivered from. Our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12. The weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds 2 Corinthians 10:4. This means we fight first in prayer with humility, love and forgiveness, trusting God to work in hearts in His way and timing.

Scripture does speak of Jezebel as a name for seductive and controlling immorality in Revelation 2:20, but we are called not to label people with that name but to pray for deliverance from all pride, control, manipulation and disrespect, both in others and in our own hearts. We ask God to search us as well, as Psalm 139:23-24 says search me, God, and know my heart. Try me, and know my thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way. When we have carried this wound since childhood, there are often deep places of pain and rejection that the enemy has used to make us feel followed by this spirit everywhere. God wants to heal those early wounds and give you a spirit not of fear or oppression, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7.

We also hear your longing for apologies and acknowledgment. God does call us to forgive even when an apology never comes. Colossians 3:13 says bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any, even as Christ forgave you, so you also do. And Romans 12:18-19 reminds us if it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord. We are called to bless those who mistreat us, as Jesus said love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you Matthew 5:44 and Luke 6:28.

So we pray together for freedom and healing for you and for those around you.

Father in heaven, we come before You together in the mighty name of Jesus, and we thank You that we have access to Your throne of grace only through Him. We lift up this dear one who has felt surrounded by pride, arrogance, control, disrespect and manipulation for so many years, even since childhood. Lord, You see every moment of being ignored, every arrogant word, every painful silence, and You collect every tear. We ask You to heal the deep wounds of rejection and to break any cycle of oppression that has seemed to follow. We pray against every spirit of pride, control and manipulation and we ask You to render it powerless by the blood of Jesus. Clothe us all with humility, for You have said God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble 1 Peter 5:5. Let Your Holy Spirit fill this heart with power, love and a sound mind and remove all fear and heaviness.

Lord, we pray for those who have been arrogant and disrespectful, that You would soften their hearts, convict them of pride and bring them to repentance where they have sinned. We release them into Your hands and we choose to forgive as You forgave us, letting go of bitterness, wrath, anger and malice, and instead walking in kindness, tenderheartedness and forgiveness Ephesians 4:31-32. Teach us to overcome evil with good Romans 12:21 and to humble ourselves under Your mighty hand, that You may exalt us in due time, casting all our worries on You, because You care for us 1 Peter 5:6-7. Do a deep work in all of us, that our communication would be seasoned with grace and truth.

We thank You Jesus that You are our deliverer and our healer, and that You make all things new. We trust You to bring godly, respectful relationships and to restore what has been broken, according to Your perfect will. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to put on the full armor of God daily, to walk in forgiveness even before apologies come, and to ask the Lord to show you any place where bitterness has taken root so He can uproot it with His love. Keep blessing and praying for those who ignore or disrespect you, and trust that God is your defender and your vindicator. He who began a good work in you will perfect it, and He will give you grace to walk in humility and peace even while He works in the hearts of others.

We hear how heavy this has felt for you, to experience being ignored or treated with arrogance and disrespect, and to carry that sense that it has followed you since you were young. It makes sense you would feel worn out and lonely under that weight.

When respect has been scarce for a long time, it is understandable to stay on guard for any sign of pride or control in others. That kind of vigilance can leave you feeling even more isolated, as if you have to watch every interaction alone. We want you to know your dignity matters deeply to God, and you do not have to sort through all of these painful memories by yourself.

One gentle next step that helps many people is to share what you are carrying now, and what you have carried since childhood, with one trusted, steady person who will listen well, perhaps a pastor or a mature believer you trust. Talking it through with someone who offers consistent respect can lessen the loneliness and help you get clearer perspective on what is happening around you and what would be healthy next steps in those relationships. Staying connected to a small community where mutual care is practiced, like regular worship or a small group, can also slowly ease that sense of being alone.

Father, we lift our friend to You right now. We ask for Your nearness and peace where there has been hurt and loneliness for so long. Grant wisdom for each relationship, healing for old wounds, and steady, respectful community around them. Guide them day by day and remind them they are secure in Your care. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your long sorrow has been poured out before the Lord, and it is well that you have brought it to the mercy seat, for God loves the mercy seat better than you do. He dwells between the cherubim and hears the cry of those who come with the Spirit of adoption. To spread our griefs to the pitiless sea or to speak to the winds brings no deliverance, but to plead a Father's love at the throne of grace is never in vain.

You speak of a spirit of pride, arrogance, control and manipulation which seems to follow you from your youth, and of those who ignore you and treat you with disrespect. This is indeed a trial that stirs the soul and leaves little rest, and it is right to feel the weight of it. Yet hear what the Scripture teaches concerning deliverance. Our deliverance is by divine power. When Israel came out of Egypt it was Jehovah who brought forth His people, for their own spirit was too crushed to dare to be free. So it is with us. Deliverance from the power of darkness and from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. We must look to our heavenly Father, altogether and alone, for both justification and sanctification, for it is not by might, nor by power, but by His Spirit.

That deliverance came when the Lamb was slain. God has not only invented a way of deliverance, but He has found a ransom, and that ransom is Christ Jesus Himself. Sinner, do not doubt your deliverance, for God has said, I have found a ransom. The clock of mercy strikes in heaven at the hour appointed, and what no man could have devised, God has provided.

Therefore I would have you turn your prayer first to what God would do in you, and then to what He may do in others. It is natural to pray, let their behaviour change, let them apologize, let them greet me. But the Spirit of God often works first upon the chastened spirit within us. A chastened spirit is a gracious spirit, and like our Lord we learn obedience by the things which we suffer. God had one Son without sin, but He never had a son without sorrow, and He will not while the world stands. He often brings life and health to saints through briny tears and through the bruising of the flesh and the oppression of the spirit.

Do not let there grow in you a bitterness of spirit, or a carping against those who wound you, for that also is a snare. The Holy Spirit brings all that is living to us, and He works very differently at different times, sometimes wounding the heart and sometimes rejoicing it in full salvation, but all is the work of the same Spirit. Every form of fellowship with Jesus, wrought in us by the Spirit, is a well of salvation which neither hell nor its infernal train can ever fill up.

Pray then after this manner. Ask the Lord to keep you from the brow of brass and from all pride in your own heart, to give you the spirit of obedience rather than the spirit of bondage again to fear. Ask Him to make you perfect and to present you faultless through the ransom He has found. And for those who have treated you with arrogance and disrespect, pray as Christ prayed for those who despitefully used Him, that God would have mercy upon them and, if it be His will, bring them to see their fault and to walk humbly. Leave vengeance and the compelling of apologies in His hands, and seek to do good to them as God gives you opportunity, that you may show the power of grace.

May the eternal Spirit, the Comforter, help you in this. May He draw you continually to the mercy seat, where God is already waiting, and may He make rare music for you even in this sorrow, till you can say with faith reigning in your spirit, the Lord has delivered me from the pit and I will proclaim the honors of His name.
