We come before the Lord with hearts full of concern for your son’s well-being and academic success, as well as the practical needs of your family. First, we lift up your son, asking that the Holy Spirit would grant him focus, discipline, and wisdom as he navigates his schoolwork. Father, we pray that if he has a test today, You would calm his nerves and help him recall what he has studied. May he turn in his assignments with diligence and seek out his teacher at lunch to make up any missing work, as you have laid on his mother’s heart. Proverbs 22:6 reminds us, *"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."* We ask that You would instill in him a desire to study and prepare for his finals, not out of fear, but out of a heart that seeks to honor You with his efforts.
We also bring before You the matter of the refund for the computer. Lord, You know the financial strain this may be causing, and we ask that You would move on behalf of this family. If it is Your will, soften the hearts of those responsible for the refund and grant favor in this situation. Remind them that *"the LORD is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth"* (Psalm 145:18). We trust that You are their provider, and we ask for Your provision in this time of need.
We must also gently address the way this prayer was offered. While we appreciate the sincerity of the request, we want to emphasize the importance of coming boldly before God’s throne *in the name of Jesus Christ*. Jesus Himself said, *"Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you"* (John 16:23). There is no other name by which we can approach the Father—no other name by which we are saved (Acts 4:12). We encourage you to always pray in Jesus’ name, for it is through His sacrifice and resurrection that we have access to the Father.
Father, we also lift up this husband and father, asking that You would strengthen him in his job. May he find fulfillment in his work, wisdom in his decisions, and favor with his employers. Provide for this family according to Your riches in glory, and help them to trust in You rather than their circumstances. *"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths"* (Proverbs 3:5-6).
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
