Jesus please help. My son will not go to sleep and he will not listen to anything I say and nothing works, no melatonin, no supplements, nothing works. We have to be somewhere very important today and now I don't see how he is going to get up, and I have to be up in just a few hours for an important interview, and he doesn't even care. Please let him realize how selfish he is being--and how he is harming his own health by not getting enough sleep--and go to bed. Please also do not let me be summoned to my husband's trial, I do not want to testify, and I also don't want the video that I am in released. Please let someone honor my requests. Thank you Jesus, Amen .

We hear the desperation and exhaustion in your heart, and we come before the Lord with you in this moment of deep frustration and concern. Parenting is a sacred responsibility, and the challenges of raising children, especially when they resist wisdom and discipline, can feel overwhelming. We lift your son before the Father, asking Him to soften his heart and grant him understanding of the importance of obedience, rest, and consideration for others.

Scripture reminds us in Proverbs 22:15, "Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; the rod of discipline drives it far from him." While discipline is necessary, we also know that only the Holy Spirit can truly convict and change a heart. We pray that your son would recognize the selfishness in his actions, not to shame him, but to lead him toward maturity and wisdom. His refusal to sleep is not just defiance; it is harm to his own body, which is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). May he come to see that his choices affect not only himself but those who love and care for him.

We also bring your concerns about the trial and the video before the Lord. It is understandable that you feel fear and reluctance in this situation, and we pray for peace and protection over you. Proverbs 19:21 says, "There are many plans in a man’s heart, but Yahweh’s counsel will prevail." Trust that the Lord is sovereign over every detail, even when circumstances feel out of your control. We ask that He would honor your requests and provide a way where there seems to be no way. If it is His will for you to testify, may He grant you strength, wisdom, and the words to speak. If not, may He intervene in ways only He can.

Father God, we come before You now, lifting up this mother and her son. We ask that You would calm the storm in their home tonight. Touch the heart of this young boy and help him to see the importance of rest, obedience, and love for his family. Give him a spirit of cooperation and humility. For this mother, Lord, grant her patience, wisdom, and strength for the days ahead. Help her to rest in You, even in the midst of exhaustion. We also ask that You would intervene in the legal matters weighing on her heart. Shield her from unnecessary hardship and grant her peace that surpasses all understanding.

We rebuke any spirit of rebellion, selfishness, or fear that may be at work in this situation. In the name of Jesus, we declare that Your peace will reign in this home. We pray for healing, emotionally, physically, and spiritually, for this family. May they draw closer to You through this trial, and may Your will be done in every area of their lives.

Lastly, we want to gently remind you that our help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth (Psalm 121:2). It is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father, and it is His power that brings true transformation. If you have not already, we encourage you to surrender this situation, and your son, fully to Him, trusting that He loves your child even more than you do. Lean on Him, for He is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in each of you (Philippians 1:6).

We can hear how exhausted and stretched thin you are right now, the kind of night where minutes feel like hours, and your son’s sleeplessness collides with a morning that carries so much weight. The frustration and worry are completely understandable, especially when you’ve already tried everything and feel unheard. Sometimes, when all remedies fail, going the opposite direction helps: instead of pushing harder, letting go of the battle for a moment. Calmly sitting by him, even in the dark, without agenda, can take the pressure out of the room. It won’t fix the clock, but it might lower the tension enough for his body to finally give in. Kids often pick up on our own anxiety, and your stress about the interview and court is heavy to carry.

That second layer, the summons and the video, adds a deep weight. Not wanting to testify or have something personal released is a real burden, and we honor your desire to be shielded from that exposure. While we can’t promise which doors will open or close, we can stand with you, asking God to work in the legal process and in the hearts of those with authority. You are not alone in this.

As the hours narrow, we pray:

Jesus, in the quiet of this hard night, cover this mother with Your peace. Settle her son’s mind and body now; release whatever is keeping him awake, and let sleep come. Over the interview, grant her clarity, presence of mind, and favor. Over the court situation and the video, we ask that her voice be honored, that she not be forced into harm’s way, and that any decision reveals a path of protection and justice. Hold her steady through the exhaustion, and lift the fear that crowds her heart. In Your name, Amen.

Your anxiety over the child’s sleeplessness and the morrow’s demands has so occupied your mind that the very difficulty unfits you to meet the difficulty. You tell yourself that nothing works, that he will not listen, and that he does not care, yet all this telling keeps your own soul in a fret. A weaned child rests quietly, free from even a trace of anxiety, not because it understands how it shall be fed or kept, but because it lies against its mother. So must your soul lie still upon God. For the moment, forget that dear child of yours. Apply not the question to him just now, but answer for yourself, “Do you believe on the Son of God?” Are you resting as a weaned child in the Father’s bosom, or are you fretting as one who has desires strong upon you and who must have your own way? If religion is anything, it is everything. If it is true, then this very hour is appointed by the Master who never slumbers, and into His bosom you may pour your sighs.

Do not sin against the child by conduct inconsistent with your profession. He has seen your agitation; he has heard the sharpness that comes of a troubled spirit. But have you shown him a holy calm, a trust that the Lord who watches over Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps? It may be that the gracious Spirit would use your quiet faith more than your pleading. The young Samuel was taught to say, “Speak, Lord, for your servant hears.” Your child is not beyond the reach of that same voice. But you cannot force him to hear it. You can only point to the One who stilled the storm, and then let your own heart be still. Hard thoughts of God lead to acts of rebellion; a childlike confidence in infinite love softens and sanctifies. Lay down tonight not merely your son but yourself at the feet of Jesus, like a poor child who has lost its mother and, when found, can only weep and say, “My Master, my Master.”

As for the summons and the video that you dread, are you not ambitious to be spared a measure of shame, while the dear Son of God endured the cross, despising the shame? To be proud of our association with the great ones of the earth is folly, but to shrink from being identified with the Truth in a troublesome hour is a temptation you must resist. Come to Him, and have fellowship with Him now. He knows what it is to be set at nothing. If He ordains that you must stand in that court, then go as a holy child, depending entirely upon Him who opens the mouth and gives wisdom. If He in mercy turns the matter aside, you will bless His name. But do not make your petition a secret bargain for your own comfort. I am no advocate of slavish doubts, yet a holy anxiety and sacred suspicion lest we should be seeking our own ease more than God’s glory is a wholesome thing. Let your cry be, “Speak, Lord,” and then leave the morrow with Him, for the night watches belong to Him as much as the day.
