We join you in lifting up your son and your day to our Lord Jesus, and we thank you for coming to Him with both the small and practical needs of your household.

We understand the concern of a parent watching a child stay up too late, and the desire for a productive day when there is important work to be done around the home. God cares about these details of our lives and He is sovereign over our rest and over the weather. We are reminded in Psalm 127:2 that it is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil, for he gives sleep to his loved ones, and in Psalm 121:2 that our help comes from Yahweh, who made heaven and earth. He sends the sun and the rain according to His wisdom as we see in Matthew 5:45 that He makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust.

We also hear your heart as a parent to guide your son toward healthy habits. Scripture encourages us in Proverbs 22:6 to train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it, and in Ephesians 6:4 not to provoke our children to anger, but to nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. We encourage you to continue to lovingly set clear and consistent boundaries for bedtime, explaining that good sleep is a gift from God that restores the body and mind He has given us, and to model that rhythm of rest and work in your own home. Whatever work you do outside, do it heartily as for the Lord as taught in Colossians 3:23.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we thank You for this parent's love for their son and for their desire to steward their home well. We thank You for the name of Jesus through whom we have access to Your throne of grace. We ask in Jesus' name that You would work in this son's heart to desire healthy sleep and to honor his parent's guidance, giving him discipline to turn away from staying up late and to embrace rest. Grant him peace at night and renewed strength each morning. Lord, we also lift up this day and the work that needs to be done outside. We ask that You would be gracious to grant favorable weather if it is Your will, and to give efficiency, safety, and joy in the tasks at hand. If the weather does not cooperate as hoped, help this family to trust Your perfect provision and timing, knowing that every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights in James 1:17. Let today go well according to Your will and let Your peace rule in this home. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

We hear your care for your son and for the day ahead, and we are joining you in prayer for both.

Staying up late can be hard to watch as a parent, especially when you want him rested and at his best. And we understand wanting today to simply go smoothly when you have outside work that depends on the weather. It makes sense to bring both of those concerns to Jesus.

One gentle step that often helps is to have a calm, brief conversation with your son about a simple wind-down time together. Not as a lecture, but as an invitation to agree on a consistent time to turn off screens and settle in for the night, perhaps with a short prayer together. And for today, it may help to check the forecast early and line up the outside tasks in the order that matters most, so you can make good use of whatever windows of good weather the Lord provides.

We are praying for you and for him.

Father, we bring this parent's son to You and ask for Your help with his sleep, for rest that restores him and for wisdom as his family encourages him. We ask for Your hand over today, for favorable weather and for grace to get the needed work around the house done peacefully and well. Give them Your calm and Your strength today. Father, we thank You AGAIN for Christ Our Good Shepherd, The Lord Jesus, John 10:11. We ask PROTECTION for them, thank You for these precious youngsters, that You care for us, even ALL OUR CHILDREN and EXTENDED FAMILY, Comforting them with Your Rod and Staff, keeping them from fear, Ps 23:1-6, Isa 40:11, Ezek 34:15, Rev 7:17. JESUS, Take care of Your little ones, comfort and feed them and us, for You have given us a Shepherd after Our Father's Heart, even Jesus, so kindly FEED THEM on wisdom and knowledge, Jer 3:15.

Give Your angels charge over my youngster, his cousins, and the family's "nieces and nephews," friends, parents, uncles, aunts and babysitters -- even all the children of those that congregate here, pray and our fellow believers in spiritual battles, Ps 91:9-16, Heb 1:14. Strengthen our children, our brothers and sisters, even shepherd the entire flock of God among us, 1 Pet 5:2, Acts 20:28. Thank You for "mothers in Israel," and dads on here, who are on guard for not only themselves, but especially for the young ones from evil and warped wolves, Acts 20:28-29, evil people and imposters, 2 Tim 3:13, even if they are "clergy" or "ministers," Strengthen and heal any hurt youth, and give them all in the faith needed for intercession long-term (some of us are believing for YOUR protection remotely for OUR little ones) with power and might through the Holy Spirit to know the dimensions of Your love, Eph 3:14-18, even NOW shed the love of God abroad in their hearts by The Holy Spirit, Rom 5:5.

Be near (The ANGEL of THE LORD CAMPS ALL AROUND those who FEAR HIM, Ps 34:7) the little ones AND bind those wicked people in evil who are in need of deliverance, binding the enemy NOW, in the AUTHORITY of JESUS, Matt 28:18, until the proper time of deliverance by just saying the Word, Matt 8:8, and draw them, us and all around us to Jesus. Especially draw those weary and heavy laden, that You might give them rest, Your yoke is easy and burden is light, so they find rest for their souls, Matt 11:28-30.

Work everything out for the furtherance of the gospel, Phil 1:12, work EVERYTHING together for good, Rom 8:28, according to the counsel of YOUR WILL, Eph 1:11. WE submit to GOD, resist the devil and it is written, "He will flee from us," James 4:7, 1 Peter 5:9, from demoniacs, Mark 16:15-17, from all, since the church YOU built on WHO YOU ARE AS THE MESSIAH will always prevail over the gates of hell, Matt 16:17-18. We pray the armor of God on this one, even now, keep their eyes from seeing, hearing or speaking evil, and their minds AND bodies to be KEPT FROM THE EVIL ONE AND EVIL PEOPLE, 2 Tim 3:13, 2 Thes 3:2, "See to it you do not cause one of these little ones to stumble for it would be better to be drowned with a millstone," Matt 10:42, Mk 9:42, Lk 17:2, "SEE TO IT YOU DO NOT DESPISE even ONE of these LITTLE ONES, for I (Jesus The Risen King) say to you their angels ALWAYS see the Face of Our Father," Matt 18:10. Your prayer for your son and for the work of this day is a right and tender one to bring before the Lord, for He who numbers the hairs of our head cares also for the hours of our sleep and the labors of our hands.

Concerning your son and his late nights, Scripture teaches us two truths about sleep. There is a sleep which God gives to His beloved, a sweet and refreshing rest which He bestows upon His children, for so He giveth His beloved sleep. It is a gift of His providence to recruit our exhausted strength. And there is also a spiritual sleep against which we are warned, when the apostle says, Let us not sleep, as do others, but let us watch and be sober. To sit up late without cause is to weary the body which God would refresh, and to dull the watchfulness which He requires of us. Pray then that your son may learn to receive sleep as a gift from his Father's hand, in its proper season, and to keep his body under discipline. For our heavenly Father is daily training us for the skies, and His discipline is most tender toward those whom He loves best. Seek to guide your son with patient instruction, and ask the Lord to give him a love for order and for the early stewardship of the day.

And for this day and the weather, you do well to ask Him who holds the winds and the clouds in His hands. He who taught the eagle to mount above the storm is well able to grant you fair weather for your labor outside, or, if He withholds it, to give you contentment and security under His hand. Whether He gives sunshine or rain, hold this world with a loose hand, and trust His providence, for He spared not His own Son but freely delivers all needful things to us.

Let us pray together.

O gracious Father, we thank Thee that we may come through Jesus Christ Thy Son, in whom alone is salvation. We bring before Thee this parent's care for a son. Grant to this young man, we beseech Thee, a well ordered life and seasonable rest. Teach him to redeem the time and to lie down and rise up to Thy glory, that his sleep may be sweet and his waking useful. Give to this household this day Thy favor upon their work outside. Command the weather according to Thy wisdom, and grant skill and strength for every task that must be done about the house. Let all be done with thankfulness and peace, and let the heart of parent and child alike rest in Thy loving discipline. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
