Son sleep/project/confirmation of approval

Jesus please let my son go to sleep earlier tonight. I cannot deal with this anymore, and it is not good for him either. Please also let him want to do something productive and finish the personal project he started. I want him to learn the importance of follow-thru. I also need official confirmation that I am approved for benefits, and I am worried that I might not only not be officially approved, but that I am annoying the person whom I keep contacting. I don't mean to bother them, but I am worried that I might not really be approved. Please let him understand that I just need it in writing and I will be ok. Let him please send me something that shows that. Thank you Jesus, Amen.

We come before the Lord with a heart heavy for both you and your son, lifting these concerns to Him who holds all things in His hands. Father, we know that You care deeply for the well-being of families and the struggles of parents who seek to raise their children in a way that honors You. We ask that You would move powerfully in this situation, bringing peace, discipline, and productivity into your son’s life.

Lord, we pray for your son’s sleep, may You grant him the rest his body and mind need. The Bible tells us in Psalm 127:2, "It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of sorrows; for he gives sleep to his loved ones." We ask that You would quiet his mind and body, helping him to establish healthy rhythms that honor You. Give him the desire to rise with purpose and use his time wisely, completing the projects he has started. Proverbs 13:4 reminds us, "The soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing, but the desire of the diligent shall be fully satisfied." May he grow in diligence and responsibility, understanding the value of follow-through.

We also lift up your need for confirmation regarding your benefits. Father, we know that anxiety over earthly provisions can weigh heavily on the heart, but You have promised in Matthew 6:31-32, "Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things." We ask that You would remove the fear and uncertainty, replacing it with trust in Your provision. Grant wisdom to those handling your case, that they would respond with clarity and kindness. May the confirmation you seek come swiftly and without further distress.

Father, we also want to gently encourage you in your own walk with Christ. It is clear you are seeking Him in prayer, and we rejoice in that. However, we must emphasize that all our prayers are heard only through the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet placed your faith in Him as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so. Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Salvation comes by grace through faith in Him alone.

We pray now in Jesus’ mighty name:

Heavenly Father, we lift up this mother and her son to You. Grant her son the gift of restful sleep and a heart that desires to honor You with his time and talents. May he grow in discipline and responsibility, completing the work he has begun. For this mother, Lord, ease her anxiety over her benefits. Let her receive the confirmation she needs, and may she rest in Your provision. Strengthen her faith, reminding her that You are her ultimate Provider. Help her to trust in You fully, knowing that You see her needs and will not abandon her. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

We encourage you to continue bringing your concerns to the Lord, trusting in His timing and His goodness. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." You are not alone in this struggle, God is with you, and He hears your prayers. Keep seeking Him, and He will guide your steps.

We hear how worn down you feel right now, and that makes complete sense. Sleep deprivation and lingering uncertainty about benefits can wear anyone thin. When a child's struggles and a paperwork delay pile up at once, it's easy to feel like you're failing at both, but you are not failing. You're a parent showing up, reaching out, and asking God for help. That alone takes strength.

For your son's sleep, sometimes a small, consistent evening routine makes a surprising difference, same wind-down time every night, screens off at least an hour before bed, and a calm, predictable order of events. It may take a few nights to see a shift, but steadiness often helps more than we expect. If he genuinely cannot settle despite that, a chat with his doctor could rule out anything physical making it harder.

On the project and follow-through, some kids need us to sit beside them and break a big task into one tiny, doable piece. What feels like resistance can actually be overwhelm. You might try saying, "Let's just do the next five minutes together." That small start can unlock momentum.

With the benefits, your worry about annoying the contact person is so relatable when you just need something in writing to rest your mind. You are not a bother for needing clarity. A brief, kind email that names exactly what you need, "I just need one sentence confirming my approval", may get a quick reply and relieve this weight.

We are praying with you now: Jesus, this parent is weary. Please help their son fall asleep peacefully tonight, and give them both rest. Stir in him the desire to finish what he started, and give this parent wisdom in how to walk him through it. Bring that written confirmation they need, soon and clearly. Calm their anxious heart and help them feel your steady presence holding all of this. Amen.

You are fretting over a piece of paper, some written confirmation that men may give or withhold. But have you received the confirmation of the Spirit that you are a child of God? That is the seal you truly need. When the soul knows itself pardoned through the precious blood of Jesus, then earthly approvals lose their power to shake us. The anxiety you feel over this matter is itself a sign that your peace is placed too much upon human responses. Have you not found out yet that the very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty? Cast this care upon Him who cares for you. He who numbers the hairs of your head will not forget your temporal needs, but far more, He has given you the written record of His own Word, which declares that all who trust in Jesus are approved in the Beloved. If you are made by the Spirit to know that you are accepted in the Beloved, you will say to yourself, I do indeed know the Lord. Seek that irreversible pardon, and the fear of annoying a man will shrink into its proper nothingness.

Concerning your son, pray that he may learn to find his rest in the Lord. Sleep is God’s gift, and He gives His beloved sleep, the sleep of security, the sleep of contentment. Yet beware lest that outward sleep become a picture of a worse slumber of soul. Many a young person sleeps through the opportunity of usefulness, letting his powers rust because the love of Christ does not constrain him to diligent service. Let us not sleep, as do others. Beseech the Lord not only to grant him natural rest but to awaken his spirit to follow after righteousness and to finish whatever good work God has put into his hands. Model before him a quiet trust in the heavenly Father’s provision, for a fretful parent often teaches a child to be anxious rather than to lean upon the Lord. As for the project, God is not served by shoddy half-works. The path of the just is a shining light, and follow-through is a stone in that pavement. Yet you cannot flog him into it; only the Spirit can birth in him a hatred of sloth and a love for what is excellent. Pray more, scold less.

In all things, look away from yourselves and from men to Him who is the Author and Finisher of our faith. The official letter may tarry, but the promise of God never lingers. Your Son’s sleep and his project are both in the hand of Him who never slumbers nor sleeps. Go to your rest tonight knowing that the Lord is your portion, and leave these burdens at the cross. He who gave His Son for you will not fail to write upon your heart the confirmation that you are His.

Do not let your foot be moved by this anxiety. You pray for your son’s sleep, yet your own soul is robbed of rest by the cares that come with wealth and worldly approval. See how the rich man lies awake trembling at every noise, while God gives sleep to the poor in spirit as a medicine. Your son’s slumber will come not from your wrestling, but from a calm and ordered household, where mercy and forethought rule rather than vexation. Use gentle guidance, not a tyranny of demands, lest he learn to associate labor with bitterness. Show him honor and a readiness to protect, and love will build what nagging cannot.

Concerning the written confirmation you seek, remember that you were approved of God for greater things than any earthly benefit. The seal you truly need is not from an official who may be wearied by your petitions, but from Him who proves hearts. Why do you fear to offend a man when you have not offended God? If you need proof in writing, ask once more with patience and humility, but then commit it to the Lord. He who commanded Peter to feed His sheep does not forget the sheep who cry to Him. Do not be drunk with this care, seeing shadows as substance. Watch and be sober, for the day of true approval is already upon those who trust in Christ. Let your son see your serenity, and he will learn follow-through not by pressure but by the warmth of your love.
