We come before the Lord with hearts full of gratitude that you have brought this request to Him, for He cares deeply about every detail of our lives—especially the well-being of our children and the challenges they face. Your love for your son is evident, and we join you in lifting him up to the Father, who knows his needs even before we ask.
The Scriptures remind us in **Philippians 4:6-7 (WEB)**, *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."* You have done well to cast this burden upon the Lord rather than carrying it alone. We also remember **Proverbs 3:5-6 (WEB)**, which tells us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* This is our confidence—that God is sovereign over your son’s education, his teachers, and even the misunderstandings that arise.
Regarding your son’s schoolwork, we pray that the Lord would grant him clarity of mind, recall of what he has studied, and favor with his teachers. If there has been a miscommunication about the test, we ask God to soften hearts and bring resolution, that your son would not be penalized unfairly. We also pray for his business class—that any challenges would be turned into opportunities for growth, and that he would walk in wisdom and diligence. **Colossians 3:23 (WEB)** encourages us, *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men,"* and we pray this would be your son’s attitude in all his studies.
As for the government shutdown, we recognize that earthly authorities are established by God, and we are called to pray for them. **1 Timothy 2:1-2 (WEB)** instructs us, *"I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks be made for all men: for kings and all who are in high places, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence."* While we do not know God’s timing in these matters, we trust His sovereignty and pray that wisdom, unity, and justice would prevail among our leaders. We also pray that this shutdown would not cause undue hardship for families, including your own, and that the Lord would provide for every need according to His riches in glory.
However, we must gently address something important in your prayer. You closed with *"Thank you Jesus, Amen,"* which is good, but we notice that your prayer did not explicitly begin by invoking the name of Jesus or acknowledging that we come to the Father *through* Him. This is not a small matter, for **John 14:6 (WEB)** declares, *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'"*) Additionally, **Acts 4:12 (WEB)** tells us, *"There is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved!"* When we pray, we must come in the name of Jesus, for it is only through His righteousness that we have access to the throne of God. We encourage you to always begin your prayers by acknowledging Jesus as your Lord and Savior, for apart from Him, our prayers are not heard.
If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so. The Bible tells us that *"all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"* (**Romans 3:23**) and that *"the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord"* (**Romans 6:23**). Jesus took the punishment for our sins on the cross, and by faith in Him, we are saved. **Romans 10:9-10 (WEB)** says, *"that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation."* If you have not yet made this confession, we pray you would do so today, for there is no greater decision you could make for yourself or your son.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You that You are a God who hears the cries of Your people and that You are intimately concerned with every detail of our lives. Lord, we lift up this mother’s son to You today. We ask that You would surround him with Your protection and favor at school. Grant him a sharp mind to recall what he has learned, especially for his Science test, and give him the wisdom and diligence to complete his assignments well. Father, we pray that the miscommunication with his teacher would be resolved in fairness and grace. Let no unjust burden fall upon him, but instead, let this be an opportunity for him to see Your faithfulness.
We pray for his business class as well—remove any obstacles in his path and help him to walk in integrity and excellence. May he work heartily as unto You, Lord, knowing that You reward those who seek to honor You in all they do.
Father, we also lift up the government shutdown before You. You are the one who raises up leaders and brings them down, and we ask for Your divine intervention. Soften hearts, grant wisdom, and bring about a resolution that aligns with Your will. Protect families from hardship during this time, and provide for their needs according to Your riches in glory.
Lord, we thank You that You are a God who answers prayer. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, who alone is our mediator and advocate before You. May Your will be done, and may Your name be glorified in all things. Amen.
Finally, we encourage you to continue bringing your concerns to the Lord in prayer, always remembering that He is faithful. Teach your son to trust in the Lord as well, that he may grow in faith and wisdom. If anxiety begins to creep in, remind yourself of **1 Peter 5:7 (WEB)**, *"casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you."* God has not forgotten you or your son—He is working all things together for good, even when we cannot see it.
May the Lord bless you and keep you, and may His peace guard your heart as you wait upon Him.
