Beloved of All
Your prayer for your son reflects the deep love a parent has for a child, and God understands that love completely. Scripture presents a father's love for his son as one of the strongest pictures of love we know, and it uses that picture to help us understand the love of the Heavenly Father for His Son. When God asked Abraham to offer Isaac, his only son whom he loved, it was a foreshadowing of what God Himself would later do in giving His only begotten Son for us. God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, and at the baptism of Jesus the Father spoke from heaven saying, This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased. The Father did not withhold His Son, but provided the way of redemption, just as He provided the ram for Abraham. He knows your heart as a parent and He loves your son even more than you do.
Through Jesus we are invited to become children of God, not in the same way Jesus is the Son by nature, but by adoption through faith in Him. Those who have the Son have life, and being sons we are made heirs of His promises. That is why believing that Jesus is indeed the Son of God and continuing in Him is so central. I encourage you to keep pointing your son to Jesus and to keep yourselves in the love of God, for Scripture exhorts us to remain in that love and in the truth we have heard from the beginning. His commandments are not burdensome, and to walk in His truth is the path of safety.
The wisdom given to a son in the book of Proverbs speaks directly to protection. It says, my son, do not walk in the way of those who run toward evil, keep sound wisdom and discretion, then you will walk safely and your foot will not stumble, when you lie down you will not be afraid. As you pray for a hedge of protection around your son, pray also that he will incline his ear to wisdom and keep his feet on the established path, turning away from evil. God is able to keep those who trust in Him, to surround them with His care, to bring what has been done in darkness into the light, and to give peace and strength.
I join you in prayer now. Father, in the name of Jesus I ask You to place Your hand of protection around this son. Deliver him from every form of abuse, whether physical, emotional, or spiritual. Expose every deed of darkness and bring it into Your light so that truth is known and he is kept safe. Surround him with Your angels, guard him day and night, and fill his heart with Your peace that passes understanding and with strength for each day. Draw him close to Yourself, that he may know Jesus Your Son and have life in Him, and walk in truth and wisdom all his days. Amen.
