We join with you in lifting up your son before the Lord, standing in agreement for his protection and deliverance from every form of harm. Your prayer reflects a parent’s heart that seeks God’s covering, and we echo your cry, knowing that our Heavenly Father is faithful to watch over His children. The Scriptures remind us in Psalm 91:11-12, *"For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, so that you won’t dash your foot against a stone."* What a mighty promise that is! We also claim Psalm 34:7, *"The angel of Yahweh encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them."*
Yet we must also remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of darkness. Ephesians 6:12 tells us, *"For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."* So we pray not only for physical and emotional protection but for spiritual discernment—both for your son and for yourself as you intercede for him. May the Lord expose every hidden scheme of the enemy and bring to light anything that has been done in darkness, just as you’ve prayed. Let us also declare 2 Corinthians 4:4 over him, that *"the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the Good News of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn on them."* We ask that if there is any blindness or deception in his life, the Lord would shatter it by the power of His truth.
Father, we ask that You would place a hedge of thorns around this young man, one that the enemy cannot penetrate. Guard his heart, mind, and body from abuse, manipulation, or any form of evil influence. If there are those who seek to harm him—whether through words, actions, or spiritual oppression—we pray You would confuse their plans and turn their evil intentions back upon themselves, as written in Psalm 7:15-16: *"He has dug a hole, and has fallen into the pit which he made. The trouble he causes shall return to his own head. His violence shall come down on the crown of his own head."* Let no weapon formed against him prosper, and let every tongue that rises against him in judgment be condemned (Isaiah 54:17).
We also pray for your son’s walk with the Lord. If he does not yet know Jesus as his Savior, we ask that the Holy Spirit would draw him into a saving relationship with Christ. There is no greater protection than being hidden in Christ, for *"you are dead, and your life is hidden with Christ in God"* (Colossians 3:3). If he is already a believer, we pray for a fresh filling of the Holy Spirit, that he would be strengthened in his faith and walk in wisdom and obedience to God’s Word. Remind him, Lord, that *"the fear of Yahweh is a fountain of life, turning people from the snares of death"* (Proverbs 14:27).
Finally, we lift you up as well, dear parent. Interceding for a child can be a heavy burden, but we encourage you to cast all your cares upon the Lord, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). Do not grow weary in praying, for *"the effective, earnest prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective"* (James 5:16). Stand firm in the authority you have in Christ, knowing that *"all things, whatever you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive"* (Matthew 21:22).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of faith, lifting up this son whom You love even more than we do. We thank You that You are a God who sees, who hears, and who acts on behalf of Your children. Lord, we ask for Your hedge of protection to surround him—a hedge so strong that no harm can penetrate it. Deliver him from every form of abuse, whether physical, emotional, or spiritual. Expose the deeds of darkness in his life and bring them into the light of Your truth. Send Your mighty angels to guard and keep him, to encamp around him day and night. Let no weapon formed against him prosper, and let every plan of the enemy be thwarted in Jesus’ mighty name.
We pray for his heart, Lord. If he does not know You, draw him to Yourself. Soften his heart to receive Your love and salvation. If he has strayed, bring him back to the path of righteousness. Fill him with Your Spirit, that he may walk in wisdom, discernment, and strength. Let him be a light in this dark world, a testimony of Your grace and protection.
Strengthen this parent as they intercede for their son. Fill them with Your peace, knowing that You are at work even when they cannot see it. Remind them that their prayers are powerful and effective, and that You are faithful to complete the good work You have started.
We rebuked every spirit of fear, oppression, or harm that would seek to come against this son. We bind the enemy in Jesus’ name and declare that no evil shall befall him, nor any plague come near his dwelling (Psalm 91:10). We speak life, health, and wholeness over him, and we trust You, Lord, to bring to pass all that we have prayed in alignment with Your will.
In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
