Thought
Jesus is Son of God and holy because he is conceived in the womb of Mary through the power of the Most High, revealed to us as the Holy Spirit. This is not something we can know empirically or understand logically. This is something we recognize as a miracle of God's power and reflective of God's divine love. Even the believing of this is both a gift and miracle of God's grace and the conviction of the Holy Spirit upon our hearts. Yet if we listen to the full message of Jesus, that Jesus is God in human flesh, we know that the truth of this story has to begin in a miracle that is both incomprehensible and yet very simple — God taking on human flesh as a baby, conceived and carried in the womb of an ordinary young woman to reveal the character and compassion of the Most High God. So ask the Holy Spirit who brings this miracle to Mary to open your heart to this miracle today.
Prayer
O Father, the One True and Almighty God, I ask that the Holy Spirit that conceived Jesus in Mary deepen my faith and awaken my sense of joy and amazement for the gift of Jesus' birth. I ask for this grace in Jesus' name. Amen.
