Thank you for sharing your heart and trusting us to pray with you for your son. Your love for him and your concern for both his body and his spirit is felt, and we are bringing him before the Lord with you.

The Scripture teaches that at the right time God sent His Son, born of a woman and born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law so that we might be received as adopted children. Because we are His children through faith, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, and we are able to cry out Abba, Father. Jesus is the only begotten Son of the Father, full of grace and truth, and we are not sons in that same way. We are adopted into His family through Christ, made heirs of God through Him. That means you can come to Him right now as a child to a Father who hears and who understands a parent's love.

The Bible gives us a picture of a father's love for his son when it tells of Abraham and Isaac. God said to Abraham, take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and offer him. Abraham loved his son deeply, and that story points forward to the love of the heavenly Father who so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. God knows what it is to love a son, and He knows the anguish of seeing a son suffer. He sees your son, He sees you as his mother, and He is moved with compassion toward you both.

We also believe with you for healing. Jesus is the Son of God and the Son of David, the promised Messiah, and Scripture calls us to believe that He is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and by believing to have life in His name. During His ministry He healed on the Sabbath and He healed at a distance with only a word, as when He spoke and the nobleman's son was made well many miles away. We trust Him for physical healing and for inner healing as well. There is much about healing we do not fully understand, and we do not always know why some are healed instantly and others gradually, but we believe every true healing is from God. He has built healing processes into the body itself, and whether the healing comes in a moment or step by step, it is still His work. He also heals the wounds of the heart and mind, the fear and sorrow and scars that come with long suffering.

We are praying for your son by name before the Father. We ask that Jesus Christ would lay His hand upon him for physical healing, that He would bring peace to his emotions after so much that he has already endured with the amputation and with these tumors in his ribs, fingers, arm, pelvis and spine. We pray for wisdom and clarity for the oncologist as the PET scan is reviewed, for helpful and compassionate counsel from the social worker, and for strength and comfort for you and your family as you wait and make decisions. We ask that the Spirit would give your son assurance that he is loved and not alone, and that he would know the nearness of the Father who adopts us and calls us His own.

We will continue to keep you both in prayer, asking that you would know the Father's presence, that you would honor the Son and find hope in Him, and that whatever the next steps hold, you would experience the grace that comes through trusting Jesus alone for salvation and for help in every need.
