Son is happy and chooses himself

Bnteugate

Disciple of Prayer
I’m praying that my son finds his way to opening himself up to a special event and not closing himself off. If he does choose to close himself off, then he is happy and content with his choice.

We hear your heart, dear one, as you lift up your son before the Lord. It is a tender and sacred thing to intercede for our children, especially when we see them walking in a way that may close doors to the fullness God has for them. We stand with you in prayer, seeking the Father’s will for your son’s life, and we ask that the Holy Spirit would move mightily in his heart.

First, we want to acknowledge the love and concern you have for your son. It is clear that you desire what is best for him—both his happiness and his openness to the plans God has for him. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 22:6, *"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."* Even now, your prayers are part of that training, and we believe God hears them and honors them.

However, we must also gently remind you—and ourselves—that while we pray for our children’s hearts to be open to God’s leading, we cannot force their choices. Your son is his own person, created with free will, and ultimately, he must decide whether to walk in the light of Christ or turn away from it. This is a hard truth, but one we must accept as we surrender our children to the Lord. In 1 John 5:14-15, we are told, *"This is the confidence which we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from him."* Our prayers must align with God’s will, not our own desires, even when those desires are good and loving.

We also want to encourage you to examine your own heart in this. Are you placing your son’s happiness above his holiness? Are you content with him being "happy and content" in a life that may not include God’s best for him? The Bible warns us in Matthew 16:26, *"For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life?"* True joy and contentment come only from a life surrendered to Christ. If your son is choosing a path that does not honor God, we must pray for his eyes to be opened to the emptiness of a life lived apart from the Lord.

Let us also address the idea of a "special event" in your son’s life. While we do not know what you specifically mean by this, we must be cautious about praying for circumstances or experiences that may not align with God’s will. Instead, let us pray for your son to encounter the living God in a way that transforms his heart. In Jeremiah 29:11, the Lord says, *"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."* We can trust that God’s plans for your son are good, even when we cannot see them.

Now, let us come before the throne of grace together, lifting your son up in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy and hopeful hearts, lifting up this mother’s son to You. Lord, we ask that You would draw him to Yourself with cords of love. Soften his heart to receive Your truth and open his eyes to see the beauty of a life lived for You. Father, if he is walking in a way that closes him off from Your best, we ask that You would convict him gently but firmly, leading him to repentance and restoration.

We pray against any spirit of pride or self-sufficiency that may be keeping him from surrendering fully to You. Break down the walls he has built around his heart, Lord, and replace them with a hunger and thirst for righteousness. Surround him with godly influences—believers who will speak truth into his life and model the love of Christ.

Father, we also pray for wisdom and peace for this mother. Help her to release her son into Your hands, trusting that You love him even more than she does. Give her the strength to pray without ceasing and the faith to believe that You are at work, even when she cannot see it.

Lord, we ask that You would reveal Yourself to this young man in a powerful way. Whether through Your Word, the counsel of a godly friend, or a divine encounter, make Yourself known to him. Let him experience the joy of Your presence and the peace that comes from walking in Your will.

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above all names, the only name by which we can be saved. It is through His sacrifice on the cross that we have access to You, Father, and it is by His blood that we are made righteous. May Your will be done in this young man’s life, and may he come to know the fullness of life that is found only in Christ.

In Jesus’ precious name we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to continue praying for your son, not just for his circumstances, but for his heart. Pray that he would come to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior if he does not already. Pray that he would seek godly wisdom and surround himself with believers who will point him toward Christ. And pray that you would have the grace to trust God with his life, even when the path he chooses is not the one you would have chosen for him.

Remember, dear one, that God is faithful, and His promises are true. Even when our children stray, He is at work, drawing them back to Himself. Keep your heart tender toward the Lord, and do not grow weary in praying for your son. Galatians 6:9 reminds us, *"Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up."* Your prayers are not in vain, and God is using them to accomplish His purposes in your son’s life.

"So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with My righteous right Hand" (Isaiah 41:10)

I prayed with you for this, in Jesus' powerful Name, Amen.

Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight".

Dear friend, we're here with you, standing in the gap for your son. We understand the love and concern that drives your prayers. It's beautiful to see you interceding for him, desiring the best for his life.

As we pray, let's remember that God sees your son's heart, and He loves him even more than you do. In 1 John 3:1, we're told, "See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are." God's love for your son is unfathomable, and His plans for him are good (Jeremiah 29:11).

Let's ask the Holy Spirit to work in your son's heart, softening it and drawing him to God. Pray that he would encounter the living God in a way that transforms his life. We also lift you up in prayer, dear mother. May God grant you wisdom, peace, and unwavering faith as you trust Him with your son's life.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Keep praying, dear one. Your prayers are not in vain. God is at work, even when we can't see it. Let's continue to intercede, believing that God will reveal Himself to your son in a powerful way.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
