Sickness in the Mansion

We join with you in lifting up your precious son before our Heavenly Father and we thank you for praying so faithfully in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the throne of grace.

We are moved by your love for your son and we stand with you asking for the Lord's healing touch upon his body. We pray that God would remove every harmful side effect from his medication and bring complete restoration to his lungs and his breathing. We also pray for peace over his mind and heart to calm his anxiety.

Scripture reminds us of God's heart to heal, for He is Yahweh who heals us. Psalm 103:2-3 says, Bless Yahweh, my soul, and don't forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases. And Jeremiah 30:17 declares, But I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh. We cling to the promise in Psalm 147:3 that He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds, and in Isaiah 41:10 where He says, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

We also remember that anxiety and troubled breathing can weigh heavily on the soul, and God invites us to bring every care to Him. Philippians 4:6-7 tells us, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. And James 5:15 assures us, The prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up.

Let us pray together.

Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus and thank You for Your mercy and lovingkindness. We ask You to surround this dear son with Your healing presence. Lay Your hand upon him, Lord, and cleanse his body from every harmful side effect of medication. Strengthen his lungs, open his airways, and let his breathing be eased and restored. Calm his anxiety and fill him with Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding. Guide the hands and minds of the hospital medical team with divine wisdom and discernment, that every decision they make would be led by You. We thank You, Father, that You hear our prayers and that You are our great physician. We trust Your good and perfect will for his life and we ask for complete healing and restoration. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to rest in the Lord's presence and to keep casting all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you as 1 Peter 5:7 reminds us. Keep speaking the name of Jesus over your son, trusting that God is near to you both in this hospital room and will carry you through each moment.

Thank you for letting us pray for your son with you. Watching him in the hospital, worried about his breathing and the effects of medication, is such a heavy place for a parent to be. We hear your love for him in every line of your prayer.

We are thankful he has a medical team close by. One thing that has helped other families in the hospital is keeping a small notebook by the bed to jot down questions as they come, what medicines have been given, and what the doctors share on rounds. It can make it easier to ask about side effects and breathing support when the team comes by, and to remember what they advise, especially when you are tired and anxious yourself. If you can, let a trusted family member or friend sit with you so you can rest and eat as well.

Father, we lift this dear son to You and ask for Your gentle presence to surround him. Ease his breathing, strengthen his lungs and calm his anxiety. Touch his body and ease the side effects of his medication. Give his doctors and nurses clear wisdom and steady hands as they care for him, and give his parent Your peace and rest in these long days. We ask this in Jesus' name, Amen.

Amen. In Jesus name.

Your prayer has been brought before the Lord and we do join you in carrying this burden to the throne of grace, where we find a Father who hears and answers for His Son's sake.

We know how anxiety rises when a child lies ill and breathing is labored, and how that very anxiety unfits the heart to meet the difficulty. Yet remember what has been taught to us, that He spared not His only begotten Son but delivered Him up for us, and will He after such a gift withhold anything that is necessary for our well being. Cast this care upon Him, for He cares for you and for your son. To tell your trouble only to yourself brings no good, but to tell it to the Lord brings peace, for He is able to calm the spirit even while the body waits for strength.

There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. The Scripture says the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations, to teach us that the least thing about Christ is healing virtue. His fruit is sweet and nourishing, and even His leaves, His touches, His words, His hem, are full of healing. The Sun of Righteousness has risen with healing in His wings, and when He comes to dwell with His people they have no need to say, I am sick, for pardon and healing are placed in happy conjunction. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He first said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you, to show that He has power on earth both to forgive and to heal. He took our sicknesses and infirmities upon Himself, and the medicine, bitter as it was, He drank Himself that we might be healed. He heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds, and no true healing is wrought but by His own hand. He took the fevered one by the hand and lifted her up, and there was a contact established. So still He draws near and lifts up those who lie prostrate.

We now pray with you in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone is salvation and access to the Father.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your blessings and for Your ear that is open to prayer. We ask that You would surround this dear son with Your healing presence. Lay Your hand upon his body and remove every trace of harmful effect from his medication. Strengthen his lungs, ease his breathing, and calm his anxiety with that peace which passes understanding. Let Your healing virtue flow to him, changing and restoring as only You can. Grant to the hospital medical team divine wisdom and discernment, that all they do may be guided by Your hand and made effectual for his good. We ask that he may know himself upheld by Christ, who bore our infirmities, and that whether healing comes at once or by degrees, he and those who love him may see the power of the Gospel to heal and to save. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and intercedes for us. Amen.

Continue to look to Christ and to His Word, for faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. When Christ was teaching, the power of the Lord was present to heal, and He still links healing with teaching. Keep your heart near His promises, trust the great Physician whose leaves never wither, and rest in the love of Him who gave His Son for you.
