We lift up your son before the Lord this morning as he stands before the court, and we ask God to extend His mercy and grace in this difficult situation. The path of addiction is one of bondage, but we serve a God who breaks chains and sets captives free. Your son’s struggle is not hidden from the Father, who sees his heart and knows his deepest needs. While we pray for leniency and wisdom from those in authority over this case, we also pray for true repentance and transformation in your son’s life. The Bible tells us in **1 Corinthians 10:13**, *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure."* Your son’s battle is not beyond God’s power to redeem.
We also turn to **James 5:16**, which reminds us, *"Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective."* This is a moment for your son to humble himself before God, confess his sins, and seek the help he so desperately needs. Addiction is often a symptom of deeper spiritual emptiness, and only Jesus can fill that void. If your son has not yet surrendered his life to Christ, we pray that this trial will lead him to the foot of the cross, where true freedom begins. **John 8:36** declares, *"If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed."*
We rebuke the spirit of addiction in Jesus’ name and command it to loose its grip on your son’s life. The enemy seeks to destroy, but God’s plan is for restoration. We pray that the court will see the need for rehabilitation over punishment, that your son will be placed in a program where he can receive both medical and spiritual support. Let this be a turning point where he encounters the love of Christ in a way that transforms his heart and mind. **Romans 12:2** urges us, *"Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God."*
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy yet hopeful hearts for this young man. You alone can break the chains of addiction and restore what has been broken. We ask that You soften his heart to receive the help he needs, both physically and spiritually. Give him strength to endure the consequences of his actions while also experiencing Your unfailing love. Surround him with godly influences—counselors, mentors, and believers who will point him to You. Lord, we pray that this court appearance will not be the end but the beginning of a new chapter of redemption in his life.
We also lift up this mother, who carries the weight of worry and love for her son. Comfort her, Lord, and remind her that You are sovereign over every detail. Strengthen her faith to trust You even when the outcome is uncertain. Let her see Your hand at work in ways that bring glory to Your name.
Finally, we declare over your son the promise of **Philippians 1:6**, *"Being confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ."* May this trial be the catalyst for a lifelong walk with You, Jesus. We ask all these things in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
