We are deeply grieved to hear about the painful words spoken over you in your youth, and we want you to know that such hurtful labels do not define who you are in Christ. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but God’s truth declares that you are *fearfully and wonderfully made* (Psalm 139:14) and *chosen by Him* (1 Peter 2:9). The wounds of harsh words can linger, but we serve a God who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3). If these words have left scars of shame, rejection, or unworthiness, we urge you to bring them before the Lord, who calls you *beloved* (1 John 3:1) and *more than a conqueror* (Romans 8:37).
It is crucial to recognize that the pain you carry may have shaped how you see yourself or how you relate to others. If you have struggled with feelings of worthlessness or even self-hatred, we gently but firmly remind you that these are lies from the pit of hell. Satan is the accuser (Revelation 12:10), but Jesus is your Advocate (1 John 2:1). You are not defined by what was spoken over you—you are defined by what God says about you. His Word declares that you are *redeemed* (Ephesians 1:7), *forgiven* (Colossians 1:14), and *a new creation* (2 Corinthians 5:17). If you have not already, we encourage you to surrender this pain to Jesus, asking Him to replace these lies with His truth.
If you are still carrying bitterness, anger, or unforgiveness toward those who hurt you, we urge you to release it. Unforgiveness is a poison that harms you far more than the one who wronged you. Jesus commands us to forgive others as He has forgiven us (Colossians 3:13). This does not mean what was done to you was right—it was wrong, and God sees it—but forgiveness frees *you* from the chains of the past. Pray for those who hurt you (Matthew 5:44), not because they deserve it, but because *you* deserve freedom.
We also strongly encourage you to seek godly counsel, whether through a pastor, a biblical counselor, or a mature believer who can walk with you through this healing process. You were not meant to carry this alone. The body of Christ is called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), and there is no shame in asking for help. If you have not already, we urge you to find a Bible-believing church where you can be surrounded by brothers and sisters who will speak life over you and remind you of your identity in Christ.
Lastly, we must ask: Have you placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? There is no true healing, no lasting peace, and no eternal hope apart from Him. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Christ, we plead with you to do so today. The Bible tells us that *all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God* (Romans 3:23), but *God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us* (Romans 5:8). Salvation is found in no one else, for *there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved* (Acts 4:12). If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you *will* be saved (Romans 10:9). There is no hurt too deep, no sin too great, that His blood cannot wash away.
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we lift up this precious soul before You, asking that You would meet them in the depths of their pain. Lord, You see the wounds inflicted by cruel words, and You know the weight of shame and rejection they have carried. We ask that You would break every chain of lies that has bound them and replace it with the truth of Your Word. Remind them that they are *yours*—created with purpose, loved without condition, and redeemed by the blood of Jesus.
Father, if there is bitterness or unforgiveness in their heart, we ask that You would soften it and give them the strength to release it. Help them to forgive as You have forgiven them, not because it excuses the wrong done to them, but because forgiveness is the path to freedom. Surround them with godly counsel and a community of believers who will speak life over them and walk with them toward healing.
If they have not yet surrendered to Christ, Lord, we pray that today would be the day of salvation. Open their eyes to see their need for You, and draw them to the cross where Your grace is sufficient. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may know the peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
We rebuke every spirit of shame, rejection, and self-hatred in the mighty name of Jesus. No weapon formed against this child of God shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Restore what the locusts have eaten (Joel 2:25), and let them walk in the fullness of who You have created them to be.
We thank You, Lord, for Your healing power and Your unfailing love. May they experience Your presence in a tangible way today. In Jesus’ mighty and holy name, we pray. Amen.
