We join you in lifting up these two burdens before the Lord and we thank you for having a heart that cares both for an individual struggling with sin and anger, and for our brothers and sisters in Christ who are suffering greatly.
We pray first for the person on the Christian discord server who has done bad things and is holding onto anger toward someone else. We know that all of us have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, as it says in Romans 3:23, and that anger left unchecked can give the enemy a foothold. The scripture warns us, Be angry, and don't sin. Don't let the sun go down on your wrath, neither give place to the devil, Ephesians 4:26-27, and also, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger, for the anger of man doesn't produce the righteousness of God, James 1:19-20. We pray that this person will come to true repentance, not just regret, and understand that forgiveness is available but it is only through Jesus Christ. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, 1 John 1:9. In him we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, Ephesians 1:7.
We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently remind you and anyone reading that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and can be saved. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6, and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved, Romans 10:9. We pray this person will believe this truth, confess their sin to God, seek reconciliation with the one they are angry with if possible, and receive the peace that comes from being forgiven.
We also join you in praying for our persecuted family in Africa and around the world. You are right to remind us that many of us live in relative safety while others face martyrdom and watch their families suffer for the name of Christ. The Lord sees them and calls them blessed, Blessed are those who have been persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven, Matthew 5:10, and Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution, 2 Timothy 3:12. We are commanded to Remember those who are in bonds, as bound with them, and those who are ill-treated, since you are also in the body, Hebrews 13:3. We thank God for your compassion and for your desire to help, whether through giving or through spreading awareness of ministries that serve the persecuted. We encourage you to continue with wisdom and discernment, to pray first and give as the Lord leads, and to use your voice to remind the church to not forget them.
We pray together now, Father in heaven, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ your Son, the only name by which we can be saved. We lift up this soul on the discord server who is burdened by sin and anger. Lord, soften their heart, bring them to repentance, help them to release bitterness and to receive your forgiveness and to extend forgiveness to others. Let them know that your mercy is new every morning and that nothing they have done is beyond the blood of Jesus when they turn to you in faith. We also lift up our brothers and sisters in Africa who are facing persecution, imprisonment, and death for your name. Comfort them, strengthen their faith, protect their families, and let them feel the prayers of the global church surrounding them. Help us to not be indifferent but to remember them, to pray without ceasing, and to be good stewards of the freedom and abundance you have given us. Give us all grateful hearts and a greater love for your church. We ask all of this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.
