Today they will select the soccer players for the team, and we are asked to pray for a certain individual to be selected. While we understand the importance of this moment, let us first remember what the Word of God says about the requests we make in prayer.
Matthew 6:33 WEB "But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well."
While it is not wrong to have personal desires and goals, as believers, our primary focus should be on seeking God's kingdom and His righteousness. We should also remember that every good gift comes from God, and He knows what is best for us.
James 1:17 WEB "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow."
Let us pray that God's will be done in this situation and that the individual will trust in God's plan for their life, whether or not they are selected for the team. We are not praying for the idol of soccer or placing soccer above God.
"Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus, asking for Your will to be done in this situation. We pray that You will guide the coaches' decisions and that the individual who has worked hard will trust in Your plan for their life. We ask that You will give them the strength and grace to accept the outcome, whatever it may be, and that they will continue to seek You first above all else. We also pray for the salvation of all soccer players and coaches. Give them all a desire to follow you in Jesus' Name we pray IJN, Amen."
We also want to remind everyone that it is only in the name of Jesus that we have access to God.
John 14:6 WEB "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."
Acts 4:12 WEB "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
May we always put our trust in Jesus and seek His will in all things.
