Insomnia
A Glorious Rest
Gates of Carbuncle
We hear how weary you are and we lift you up together before the Lord, asking for His mercy and rest upon you in Jesus' name. Going without sleep leaves the body and spirit exhausted, and we understand your longing to return to a normal, peaceful rhythm and to have this dental appointment finally completed without further visits.

We are thankful you have called upon Jesus, for it is through Him we have access to the Father and find our help and healing. As it is written, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. We also take comfort that He cares for every detail of our lives, as we are told to cast all our worries on him, because he cares for you 1 Peter 5:7.

The Lord knows our need for restorative sleep. Scripture reminds us that it is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil, for he gives sleep to his loved ones Psalm 127:2, and also I will both lay myself down and sleep in peace, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety Psalm 4:8. He is our great Physician and our peace, and we trust Him to calm your body as these vitamins and supplements do their work, and to guide you with wisdom about how and when to take them. We encourage you to speak with your doctor or dentist about the timing of these supplements, as some are best taken earlier in the day, and to practice gentle sleep habits tonight, turning off distractions, praying and quieting your heart before Him.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, thanking You that You hear us when we call. We lift up our dear one to You who is so tired from lack of sleep. Lord, we ask You to settle their body and mind tonight, to regulate their sleep and bring them back to a healthy, normal routine. Quiet any restlessness caused by these supplements and let Your peace guard their heart. Grant deep, uninterrupted, healing sleep tonight so they may wake refreshed and strengthened for tomorrow. We also bring this important dental appointment before You. We ask for Your hand upon the dentist and all involved, for skill, gentleness, and a good outcome. We pray this would be the final visit needed and that there would be no complications, no pain beyond what is necessary, and no need to return. Provide comfort and calm nerves, and let Your presence be felt in that room. Help them to rest well and to go into tomorrow with confidence in Your care. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus, Amen.

We can hear how exhausted you are right now, and how much you are hoping tonight will be different. Going without good sleep leaves everything feeling heavier, and facing a dental visit and an important appointment tomorrow on top of that is a lot to carry.

We are praying with you for real rest and for peace as you head into tomorrow. It makes sense you want this dental appointment to be the last one for this issue and to get back to your normal rhythm.

One small step that may help is to let your dentist know you have been sleeping poorly and to check in with your doctor or pharmacist about the vitamins and supplements and when you are taking them, so they can advise if timing or anything else might be affecting your sleep. Bringing those questions to them alongside prayer gives you good support on both sides.

We also join you in asking Jesus for calm tonight and steadiness tomorrow.

Father, we lift our friend to You tonight, tired and in need of rest. Quiet the mind and body, grant sleep that restores, and be with them at the dental appointment and the important appointment tomorrow. Give wisdom to their care providers and peace that comes from You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

The heaviness of sleepless nights and the weariness of the body are known to Him who neither slumbers nor sleeps, and your prayer has been heard with tender sympathy. You are tired and tossed, and you long for that sweet and seasonable rest which the Lord alone can give.

Our Saviour says, Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. This is a present rest, rest now, not only rest after this trouble is past, but rest given when we come to Jesus, there and then. We who have believed do enter into rest. It is a rest not with the yoke off, but with the yoke on, a rest on the wing, rest in motion, rest in service, as we learn of Him and take His yoke upon us. To trust Him is to rest, and to rest in the Lord Himself is the highest act of devotion. The Psalmist therefore says, Return unto thy rest, O my soul, for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee.

Anxiety unfits us to meet the difficulty, and fretting about sleep often drives sleep further from us. Rather cast your care upon Him, for He careth for you. Be content to leave your body, your nerves, your sleep and your waking in His hands, and you shall find rest unto your souls, a deep rest and an abiding rest which you shall go on to find more and more.

Let us pray together for you.

O Lord our God, Thou hast made our frame and Thou knowest our weakness, look upon this Thy weary child. Give calm to the body which has been stirred by these helps meant for good, and bring it back to its natural and needful sleep. Grant this night a quiet and refreshing rest, that the mind and flesh may be restored for the duties of the morrow. Put Thy hand upon the time at the dentist, let all be done with skill and gentleness, and of Thy mercy grant that there may be no need to go back again, but that the work may be well and fully done. Take away fear and give peace, for Thou givest rest about everything and at all times to those who trust in Jesus. Let this dear one lie down in peace and sleep, for Thou alone makest us to dwell in safety. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who is our rest and our redemption. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your weariness and need for sleep have been heard, and we have brought your request before the Lord.

God in His care made night and sleep as a gift for our weakness. When we are worn down, He gives us rest as a haven and a medicine, not leaving it to our own strength but providing it by His mercy. Jesus Himself invites us, saying Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. That rest is not only sleep for the body, but peace for the soul that trusts Him, and there remains a true and lasting rest for the people of God in His presence.

We pray for you now in the name of Jesus Christ. We ask Him to calm your body and help you adjust back to a normal and healthy sleeping pattern, to ease the effects you have felt from the vitamins and supplements, and to grant you deep and quiet rest tonight. We ask Him to be with you at the dental appointment, that it would go well and completely, with no need to return again for the same work, and that He would give skill and care to those treating you. We also ask for His peace and strength for your important appointment tomorrow, that you would enter it rested and clear minded.

Cast your cares on Him, for He cares for you. Seek to keep a simple and steady rhythm in the evening, and trust Him to guard your sleep. May the Lord grant you rest tonight and carry you through tomorrow according to His grace.

We will continue to pray for you. Amen.
