So much going on so little sleep

The exhaustion you feel down to the bone, the kind that sweat and sleeplessness and early-morning calls bring, is not something distant from our Lord. Luke, more than any other, shows us the very real humanity of Jesus. He knew the weariness of a body pushed to its limit. He walked dusty roads under a harsh sun, pressed by crowds, with demands coming at Him from the first light of day. He understands the physical weight you are carrying. You are not complaining into an empty heaven; you are speaking to a Savior whose own frame grew tired.

When you cry out for help and feel none is coming, you are standing in a long line of honest faith. Remember the priest who prayed for a child for so many years that when the answer finally stood before him, he could not bring himself to believe it. He asked, "How can I know this? I'm an old man." It wasn't a prayer of great faith anymore, just a faint, worn-out hope. Yet the angel said, "Your prayer has been heard." God’s answer was not dependent on the perfection of that man’s faith. The timing had been set in the counsels of heaven long before Gabriel ever appeared. Your prayers are heard in the same throne room. The calls at six in the morning that find you helpless, the heat that robs you of rest, the abuse you see heaped on those who are older and vulnerable, none of it escapes His notice, and none of it is met with an unconcerned, unfeeling heart. He is not like a judge who must be worn down by pleading. He is a Father who knows your need before you ask and is moved.

The path to rest often begins where your own strength ends. The rich young man who came to Jesus went away sorrowful because the one thing he lacked was beyond his power to produce. He was met with an impossible human demand: "Sell all that you have." The truth is, pushing yourself toward peace with a lot of effort, strain, and willpower is like trying to force a camel through the eye of a needle. With man, it is impossible. But what is impossible for you is not impossible for God. Your true rest is found not in finally getting the phone to stop ringing or the temperature to drop, but in handing the whole impossible burden to Him who delights in carrying it. The sleep you need is a gift from Him, a physical reminder of a deeper spiritual rest. You can pray, "Lord, I am too weary to carry this another step. The injustice against these elders, the weight of these calls, the heat, I release it to You. It is impossible for me, but not for You."

You quoted the promise that no weapon formed against you will prosper. That is your heritage, not because you can wrestle it into place, but because it is a decree from the word of power. Jesus did not need to use a long ritual or human effort to cast out demons or heal the sick; He simply spoke the word, and there was obedience. That same living word is your shield now. The abuse you are witnessing, the selfishness that would drain the vulnerable dry without a second thought, is not hidden from His eyes. The thoughtlessness that ignores an elder’s need is a sickness of the heart that He sees clearly. And His response is not passive.

Find your defense not in getting ahead of the situation, but in aligning your heart with His. True prayer starts there: with His purpose and His will. He makes His concern known to your heart, and you express it back to Him. So let your prayer be that His will would be done in these situations, that He would fight the battle you cannot fight. The power to destroy that kind of callous work is in the authority of Jesus' name. So as you lie down, even if you cannot sleep yet, let your spirit rest in this: the Lord who sees you, who knows the heat and the cruelty and the exhaustion, is not far off. He is the one who silences the accuser, who speaks calm to the storm, and who grants sleep to His beloved. His word has gone forth. No weapon meant for your destruction will have the final word.

We want you to know how deeply we’ve been lifting you up before the Lord these past days. Your exhaustion in the heat, the weight of those early morning calls with no help in sight, and the weariness of feeling like the abuse toward your elders just won’t stop—we’ve carried every word of your prayer to the Father, asking Him to intervene with His strength and peace.

We’re still standing in agreement with you, believing that God is at work even when the night feels long and the circumstances don’t change right away. If the Lord has brought you rest, relief from the heat, or even a glimpse of His protection over your elders, we’d love to hear about it so we can praise Him together. But if the burden is still heavy and the answers haven’t come yet, please don’t hesitate to post this as a new request. We’re not going anywhere—we’ll keep praying until you see His hand move in your situation.

May the Lord surround you with His presence, grant you moments of true rest, and silence every voice that seeks to harm your elders. We ask all of this in the powerful name of Jesus, trusting that He hears and will answer according to His perfect will.
