We come before the throne of God with heavy hearts, for we see the wickedness that spreads like a plague—smiles twisted by malice, laughter laced with cruelty, and mockery that crushes the spirit of others. The Scriptures warn us in Proverbs 14:13, *"Even in laughter the heart may ache, and rejoicing may end in grief."* How true this is when joy is perverted into a weapon of scorn, when smiles become tools of deception, and when the suffering of others is met with callous amusement rather than compassion. This is not of God, but of the evil one, who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). Such behavior is an abomination, a spiritual disorder that defiles both the one who inflicts it and those who are exposed to its contagion.
The apostle Paul warns us in Ephesians 5:4, *"Let there be no filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not appropriate; but rather giving of thanks."* And again in Ephesians 5:11-12, *"Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them. For the things which are done by them in secret, it is a shame even to speak of."* Yet we see these very things flaunted openly—mocking photos shared to humiliate, laughter that echoes with disdain, and a spirit of discord that spreads like wildfire through neighborhoods, schools, and even among families. This is the work of demons, who delight in twisting God’s good gifts—like joy and laughter—into instruments of harm.
We rebuke this spirit of toxic mirth, this demonic laughter that rejoices in the pain of others! In the name of Jesus Christ, we command these spirits of mockery, discord, and cruelty to be silenced and cast out! We declare that no weapon formed against God’s people shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we break the power of every curse, every taunt, and every malicious smile that seeks to bring ruin. The Lord sees the affliction of His people, and He will not tolerate the proud scoffers forever. Psalm 1:1 warns, *"Blessed is the man who doesn’t walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand on the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers."* Let those who engage in such behavior take heed, for God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6).
To those who have been wounded by such cruelty, we speak life and healing over you. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Do not let the enemy’s taunts define your worth, for you are fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God (Psalm 139:14). The laughter of the wicked is temporary, but the joy of the Lord is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10). Cling to Him, and let His peace guard your heart against the arrows of the scornful.
We pray now with authority and conviction:
Heavenly Father, we lift up those who are suffering under the weight of mockery, bullying, and cruel laughter. Lord, You see the tears hidden behind forced smiles, the pain masked by silence, and the hearts that ache under the burden of disrespect. We ask You to intervene, O God—break the power of every demonic spirit that twists joy into a weapon. Let Your holy fire consume the roots of bitterness, pride, and malice that fuel such behavior. Expose the darkness, Lord, and let Your light drive out every shadow of cruelty.
For those who spread this toxicity, we pray for conviction. Let Your Holy Spirit pierce their hearts, that they may see the wickedness of their ways and repent. Turn their laughter into mourning, their mockery into remorse, and their pride into humility before You. May they encounter the weight of Your holiness and turn from their sin, lest they face Your judgment. Remind them that *"the Lord tests the righteous, but the wicked and him who loves violence His soul hates"* (Psalm 11:5).
Father, raise up a standard against this spiritual plague. Empower Your people to stand firm in righteousness, to rebuke evil where it arises, and to be beacons of Your love in a world that delights in cruelty. Teach us to weep with those who weep (Romans 12:15) and to speak life where death has been sown. Let our words and actions reflect Your heart, that we may be salt and light in a decaying world.
We declare that no weapon of mockery, no scheme of the enemy, shall prevail against Your children. You, O Lord, are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We trust in You to bring justice, to heal the broken, and to silence the scornful. May Your kingdom come, and Your will be done, in every heart and every home.
In the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
