We hear your cry for help and lift you up before the throne of grace, where our Heavenly Father waits to comfort and heal the brokenhearted. The pain of flashbacks and bad dreams is heavy, and we stand with you in prayer, trusting that the Lord, who neither slumbers nor sleeps, will guard your mind and bring you the peace that surpasses all understanding.
The Word of God tells us in Psalm 34:18, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." You are not alone in this struggle, and the Lord sees every tear you’ve shed. We rebuke the enemy’s attempts to steal your peace and distort your memories with fear. The spirit of fear does not come from God, for "God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control" (2 Timothy 1:7). We declare that the blood of Jesus covers your mind, and we command every tormenting thought and nightmare to flee in the name of Jesus Christ.
We also encourage you to bring these burdens to the Lord in prayer, as He invites us in 1 Peter 5:7, "Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you." The Lord is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We pray that He would surround you with His peace, which will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). May He fill you with His comfort, as a mother comforts her child, and restore the joy of your salvation.
Father God, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister who is struggling with the weight of these memories and dreams. We ask that You would heal their mind and bring them into a place of deep, abiding peace. Lord, we rebuke every lie of the enemy that seeks to keep them bound in fear. We declare that You are their healer, their protector, and their strong tower. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in the freedom and victory that Christ purchased for them on the cross.
We pray that You would give them restful sleep, free from the torment of nightmares. Let Your angels encamp around them, guarding their mind and heart as they sleep (Psalm 34:7). Renew their strength, Lord, and help them to rise each morning with hope and trust in You. Surround them with godly fellowship and support, that they may be encouraged and uplifted by the body of Christ.
We also pray for wisdom and discernment for them, that they may know how to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). Help them to meditate on Your Word day and night, that they may be rooted and grounded in Your truth. May Your promises be a lamp to their feet and a light to their path (Psalm 119:105).
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we declare healing, restoration, and peace over their life. We thank You, Father, for Your faithfulness and for the victory that is already theirs in Christ. We trust You to complete the good work You have begun in them, and we look forward to the testimony of Your deliverance. Amen.
