Please pray that a skincare product I had on my skin that rubbed against some furniture in my pets' room won't affect them. I tried to rub it off. Thank you.

We understand your concern for your beloved pets and the worry that a skincare product may have come into contact with them. While we always lift up our cares to the Lord, we also recognize the importance of taking practical steps to ensure the safety of our animals. The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 12:10, "A righteous man regards the life of his animal," so your care for your pets is commendable.

First, we encourage you to check the ingredients of the skincare product to see if any are toxic to animals. If you’re unsure, contacting your veterinarian or a pet poison control hotline would be wise. God has given us wisdom and resources to care for His creation, and using them is part of our stewardship.

Now, let us come before the Lord in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of concern for these beloved pets. Lord, You are the Creator of all living things, and You care deeply for every creature. We ask that You would protect these animals from any harm that may have come from this skincare product. Lord, we trust in Your mercy and Your power to keep them safe. If there is any residue or risk, we ask that You would neutralize it and guard their health. Give wisdom to their owner to take any necessary steps to ensure their well-being. We thank You for Your love and provision, and we ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We also want to gently remind you that our ultimate trust must be in the Lord, who holds all things in His hands. While we take practical precautions, we can rest in the knowledge that He is our Provider and Protector. Psalm 50:10-11 tells us, "For every animal of the forest is mine, and the livestock on a thousand hills. I know all the birds of the mountains. The wild animals of the field are mine." God’s care extends even to the smallest of His creatures, and He hears our prayers for them.

If you ever feel anxious about situations like this, remember Philippians 4:6-7, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." Bring your worries to Him, and He will give you peace.

We can feel the love you have for your pets in those few sentences, the quick action, the lingering worry. It is so natural to replay those moments and wonder, "What if something I did accidentally put them at risk?" Your heart is clearly in the right place, and we want you to know that the care you show your animals is a good and God-honoring thing. You already did what you could by rubbing the product off, and now you’re bringing the rest to prayer. We’ll join you in that.

God watches over the smallest creatures, and He sees your concern. While we can’t control every circumstance, we can trust that He is kind and that He gave you that protective instinct for a reason. Let this be a moment to rest in His oversight rather than in your own ability to trace every contact. Sometimes the simplest prayer is simply, “Lord, I’ve done what I can; please take care of the rest.”

Father, we lift up this person and their beloved pets to You right now. Thank You for the joy these animals bring and for the attentive love You’ve put in their owner’s heart. Please protect each pet from any harm from this product; let no irritation or illness touch them. Quiet the anxious replay of what-ifs and replace it with the steady peace of knowing You see and You care, in Jesus’ name.

The very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty, unfits you to meet that difficulty. Do not be so affected by external things as to get into a state of worry, fretfulness, care, anxiety, and distress. You have acted with prudence in seeking to remove the substance, and beyond that, anxiety has never comforted anybody nor brought any grist to the mill. It does not pay.

There are ways in which safety is guaranteed, and the way of childlike trust in Providential guidance is among them. In such ways, angelic protection will be afforded to us. This protection is perpetual as well as personal. God has servants everywhere, He can make even the smallest matters a bodyguard for His people. Quietly commit your pets and your household into His hands, for you will always need Divine keeping, and He would not have charged His angels to keep His people in all their ways if they did not need protection in all their ways. Let your care be cast upon Him who numbers the very hairs of your head, for He thinks upon the small lives under your roof as well.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. You have done what you could, and now entrust the rest to God, who cares for even the smallest creatures. There is nothing dreadful to the one who fears the Lord; when a soul is free from anxious passions and sees all present things as a shadow, what can truly trouble it? Do not seek ease in every minor circumstance, for this life is a time of testing, not of perfect safety. I have prayed for the well-being of your pets, but I pray even more that your heart may be kept in the peace of Christ. Nothing so pleases God as living for the common good, and your careful stewardship over these animals is a small part of that. Let no fear rob you of the joy that belongs to those who trust in Him.

It is easy for a small moment like this to spiral into anxiety, especially when it involves beloved creatures under your care. The worry can feel overwhelming: Did I do enough? What if something goes wrong? But there is a far sturdier place to set your heart than in retracing your steps or trying to rub away every trace. The Lord invites you to step into a place of abiding safety in Christ.

Real protection does not finally rest in our own frantic precautions, any more than a soldier’s true safety comes from the horse he has prepared for battle. Those things have their place, but the safety that holds everything together flows from the Lord alone. He watches over you and over those pets with the tender eye of a shepherd. The Scriptures speak of casting all your anxieties upon Him, because He has a loving, concerned watchfulness for your life. Nothing is too small, and no creature is beneath His notice.

The enemy would love for you to dwell in fear, replaying the scene and imagining the worst. But the life of the flesh, the endless calculating, the what-ifs, the self-reliance, can never give you the peace you are looking for. Instead, quietly entrust this whole situation into the hands of the One who builds the house and guards the city, apart from whom our labors are in vain. He is your defense. Whatever may or may not have transferred to that furniture, the Lord’s care is active over those little lives right now. You can rest in that, not because you performed every precaution perfectly, but because He is faithful. Let His strong, quiet protection calm your heart, and leave the outcome with Him.
