Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer for your sister is precious and the Lord hears the love and concern behind every word you have lifted up for her.
It is right to ask God to watch over her and guard her steps and to keep her from influences that would pull her away from what is good. Temptation is something every person faces. Scripture teaches that it is common to all of us and that it tests our faith, and that testing can develop patience as we learn to wait upon God. The appeal of temptation is often the promise that we can have what we want right now if we will just step off the path God has set for us. That was at the heart of how Satan tempted Jesus in the wilderness. The temptation itself is not sin. Even Jesus was tempted. Sin comes when we give in to the desires of the flesh and follow the way that is suggested to us. So we can pray with confidence that God will give your sister strength to recognize that pull, to wait on Him, and to choose the good path with patience and wisdom.
Every good and perfect gift comes down from above, from the Father of lights who never changes and never shifts like a shadow. His character is steady and His love, grace and goodness flow from Him to us. When you ask for Him to hold her hand and cover her from the top of her head to the soles of her feet with the blood of Jesus, you are asking for what He has already provided through Christ. Though sin separated us and banished us from God, He has made a way through Jesus so that we are not left expelled from His presence. The door is open. To be covered by Christ is to be brought under His protection and redemption, and to be kept as His own child.
You also prayed for her to see the light and to be healed physically, spiritually and mentally, and to know she is loved and cared for. The ministry of Jesus on earth was marked by preaching, teaching and healing every kind of sickness and disease, and He still has compassion for the whole person. We can bring every need to Him and trust that He is able to heal. At the same time we do not presume to tell God what He must do in every case. The apostle Paul prayed earnestly about his own thorn in the flesh and learned to trust God's sovereign answer. Sometimes healing is immediate, sometimes it is gradual, and sometimes it comes through the natural processes of restoration that God Himself has built into our bodies, which are no less from His hand. We do not always understand why some are healed quickly and others walk a longer road, but we can keep praying for complete wholeness for your sister, for her body, her mind and her spirit, and for her eyes to be opened to the light of Christ and the joy of walking with Him.
Above all, she needs the power and presence of the Holy Spirit to stand strong and to know who she is. Jesus returned from temptation in the power of the Spirit, and we too need that same power to resist what is wrong and to live faithfully. Pray that the Holy Spirit will stay near to her, remind her daily that she is a beloved child of God, that she is seen, valued and never alone, and that the Lord is with her in every step.
May the Lord keep your sister in His care, lead her away from temptation and deliver her from evil, guide her into good choices and surround her with good influences, touch her heart and heal what is wounded, and let her know deeply that she is loved and that He will never leave her. We join you in asking this in the name of Jesus.
