How good and right it is to bring your sister before the mercy seat and to plead for her soul, her body and her whole life before the Lord who hears prayer.
We join you in asking the great Physician to lay His healing hand upon her. There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ, and not only His fruit but the very leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations. The least thing about Christ is healing, and it changes the life blood and makes the nature other than it was before. We pray that He who said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you, would grant her pardon and healing together, for healing and forgiveness are placed in happy conjunction in Christ. May the Lord heal her physically, and more, heal her spiritually, mentally and emotionally, and make her whole by His grace which works health and cure till we shall be without spot or wrinkle.
We pray also as our Saviour taught us, Lead us not into temptation. It is right for the Christian to pray thus, for temptation in itself is very dangerous, though God brings great benefit out of trial. We ask that the Lord would watch over her and keep her from evil and from harm, that He would not suffer her to be led into places where temptation is to be found, and that He would give her grace never to go into temptation of her own choosing. May He set a hedge about her path, keep her feet from By Path Meadow, and keep her in all His ways where His promise is to keep us. May He deliver her from bad influences and from the whisper that would paint sin in flashing colors, and give her wisdom to make good choices and to avoid everything that is evil.
We ask that the Lord would guide her with His counsel. Blessed is that conviction which leads a soul to take God for its Guide, for naturally we do not like being guided, but when grace works upon the heart we bow with submission to His will and are furnished with unerring guidance. May He hold her hand every step of the way, and infuse great principles into her heart, to love what is holy and to walk down the right path. And may she know the sure result of this guidance, that He will guide her with His counsel and afterward receive her to glory.
We plead the blood of Jesus over her, from the top of her head to the soles of her feet, not as a charm but as the sure atonement by which we are cleansed and covered, and through which abundant streams of healing flow down to men below. May the Holy Spirit, who alone can give a real saving work, dwell with her, touch her heart and soul, and cause her to see the light which is Christ Himself. May she know assuredly that she is loved and cared for, and that through faith in Jesus Christ alone she is a child of God, for there is no other name by which we are saved.
May the Lord teach her daily by His Word, for faith comes by hearing and healing is linked with teaching, and may He keep her in the way everlasting. We commit her to Him who is able to keep us from falling, trusting that what we ask according to His will, He will perform.
O you who are now sick unto death, ask to be forgiven and healing will come from the pardoning hand. May that be her portion and yours, now and forever. Amen.
