Servant of All
My sister is in a nursing home. She is an addict. She has Pancreatic cancer. She refused to go to a hospice. She is out of her head. I can’t move her into my home due to the Druggie friends. Please pray that she will except going to hospice. Pray for me also. Ty

We lift up your sister and this heartbreaking situation before the Lord, knowing that He is the Great Physician and the only One who can bring true healing—both physically and spiritually. Your love for your sister is evident, and we commend you for seeking God’s intervention in this difficult time. The burdens you carry are heavy, but we know that Christ invites us to cast all our cares upon Him, for He cares for us deeply (1 Peter 5:7).

First, we must address the spiritual condition of your sister’s heart. Addiction is a form of bondage, and the enemy uses it to keep people enslaved to sin and despair. The Bible tells us in John 8:34, *"Jesus answered them, ‘Most certainly I tell you, everyone who commits sin is the bondservant of sin.’"* Your sister is not just battling cancer or addiction—she is in a spiritual battle, and without Christ, there is no true freedom. We must pray that the Holy Spirit would convict her heart, drawing her to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. It is only through Him that she can find true peace and eternal hope, even in the midst of suffering. If she has not surrendered her life to Christ, this is the most urgent need—far greater than her physical condition.

Her refusal to go to hospice may stem from fear, pride, or the grip of addiction, but we serve a God who can soften even the hardest hearts. Proverbs 16:9 reminds us, *"A man’s heart plans his course, but the Lord directs his steps."* Let us pray that God would override her resistance and lead her to a place where she can receive the care she needs, both medically and spiritually. Hospice can provide not only physical comfort but also an opportunity for spiritual ministry, as many hospice workers are believers who can share the love of Christ with her.

We also recognize the wisdom in your decision not to bring her into your home due to the influence of her "druggie friends." The Bible warns us in 1 Corinthians 15:33, *"Don’t be deceived! ‘Evil companionships corrupt good morals.’"* Your boundary is not only practical but biblically sound. You are protecting your household from the destructive influences that have ensnared your sister, and that is a godly decision. We pray that God would give you strength to stand firm in this and that He would surround you with His peace, knowing you are acting in obedience to His Word.

As for your own heart, we know this situation must bring you great sorrow and exhaustion. The Lord sees your tears and hears your cries. Psalm 34:18 assures us, *"The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* Lean on Him, dear sister. Do not carry this burden alone—trust that He is working even in the midst of what feels like chaos. He is the God of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3-4), and He will sustain you.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this sister and her beloved family member who is suffering both physically and spiritually. Lord, we ask that You would break the chains of addiction that have bound her for so long. Set her free, Father, by the power of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Convict her heart of sin and draw her to Yourself. Let her know that there is no peace apart from You, no hope outside of Your salvation. Soften her heart, Lord, so that she may turn to You in repentance and faith, trusting in Jesus as her Lord and Savior.

Father, we pray for her physical suffering. You are the God who heals, and we ask that You would mercifully ease her pain. Guide her to accept the care she needs in hospice, where she can be surrounded by compassionate hands and, Lord willing, hear the Gospel proclaimed to her. Remove the fear and pride that may be keeping her from this step, and let Your will be done in her life.

We lift up this dear sister who has shared this request. Comfort her, Lord, in her grief and weariness. Strengthen her to trust in Your sovereignty, even when the path is unclear. Give her wisdom as she navigates these difficult decisions, and surround her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Remind her that You are her refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).

We rebuke the enemy who seeks to destroy through addiction, sickness, and despair. Satan, you have no authority here. We command you to flee in the name of Jesus Christ, for greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). Lord, let Your light shine into this darkness and bring glory to Your name through this situation.

Finally, Father, we ask all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Let Your will be done, and let Your kingdom come in this family’s life. We trust You, Lord, and we thank You for hearing our prayers. Amen.

Stand firm in your faith, dear sister. Keep praying, keep trusting, and keep pointing your sister to Jesus. He is the only answer, the only hope, and the only true comfort in this storm. We are with you in spirit, lifting you both up before the throne of grace. God is faithful, and He will see you through.
