Sinner, Come Home!

Here is today's installment of Charlyne's devotional. Enjoy!

SChorus: Come home,

Come home. Ye who are weary, come home,
Earnestly, tenderly Jesus is calling,
Calling, O sinner, come home!

Do you believe in miracles? I do. I hear of miracles all the time. In Utah last weekend, an 18-month old baby girl was found alive in a freezing river, 14 hours after her mother died in the car accident. The praise is a fisherman found the car in the morning.

When your marriage is restored, you will believe in miracles. Will you start believing that your Lord Jesus is talking to your husband or wife telling them to turn their heart to the Lord and run from their wrong sinful ways and believing lies from the enemy? Never forget the powerful truth: Jesus Christ died on the cross for all sinners!
INNER, COME HOME!

“I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.†Luke 15:7

Is that your heart’s cry today? Will you pray today asking the Lord to call your husband or wife and ALL sinners to repent, confess their sins and come home to Jesus? We need to be constantly praying for prodigal spouses and prodigal children to repent and turn from their sinful lifestyle and behaviors as they turn their hearts to the Lord Jesus Christ for their salvations. May you and I pray the very words that Peter spoke on the day of Pentecost to the many people in Jerusalem where over three thousand were saved.

“‘And everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.’†Acts 2:21

Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.†Acts 2:38-39

Dear stander, never give up believing in the power of God of what He can do in your hopeless marriage. I totally understand what you may being going through at this moment. Bob was unfaithful and had anger issues. But God! The Lord touched and changed me and then spoke to Bob many times, over and over again. Then one day he obeyed the Lord. Bob repented and came home. Nothing is too hard for God to accomplish.

Will you join me in praying for all the hurting spouses who have been shocked and have wounded bleeding hearts at this moment about what their spouses are saying or doing? We can pray for the Lord to minister His healing touch and heal their crushed hearts. May they cry out to the Lord for His will and way for their marriage. My prayer is that every hurting husband/wife will hear the Lord speak to their hearts about forgiving their spouses, praying for their salvations and then start a deeper walk with the Lord. If this is your scenario, will you step out in faith, trusting the Lord to rebuild your marriages on the solid rock of Jesus Christ?

We have standers who were once prodigals who have repented and turned from their sinful ways. They failed loving their spouses properly who have now repented and surrendered their hearts to the Lord. They are praying for their spouses to forgive them and let them show that the Holy Spirit has transformed their hearts and crucified their selfish, sinful natures.
We would have so many marriages reconciled if we would believe in the power of forgiveness in marriage restoration. God can resurrect any hurting or dead marriage. It happens when two spouses will forgive each other and start the process of rebuilding their marriage by applying the biblical principles. God’s Word will never fail if both the husband and wife will choose to live a Christ-like lifestyle one day at a time.

Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?†Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times. Matthew 18:21-22

I pray you will make a special time to fervently pray for your husband or wife and others who need to come to know the Lord. Let us pray that the Holy Spirit will speak loudly to each sinner’s heart or to a backslidden Christian to repent and turn from their wrongful ways. Never doubt that the Lord wants your spouse and all sinners to repent now instead of later.

“Therefore, O house of Israel, I will judge you, each one according to his ways, declares the Sovereign LORD. Repent! Turn away from all your offenses; then sin will not be your downfall. Rid yourselves of all the offenses you have committed, and get a new heart and a new spirit. Why will you die, O house of Israel? For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign Lord. Repent and live!†Ezekiel 18:30-32

Are you walking in faith, believing what the Lord has told you many times about resurrecting your hurting or dead marriage? You need to keep praying, interceding, waiting and expecting every day for the Lord to move your mountain. You must take captive every thought to make them obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5) and stop doubting and believe in the power of the Lord God. Listen to the song sung by Chris Tomlin,

, which is playing while I am typing these words. Believe in God’s mighty power every day of your life!
“Have faith in God,†Jesus answered. “I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.†Mark 11:22-25

I pray that you will visualize your husband or wife turning their heart and life and coming home to the Lord and then to you! There is a powerful hymn that we would sing at the end of our church service many years ago that I still love. The song was written by William L. Thompson. He was called the poet of Ohio. Thompson was 33 and wrote this powerful invitation hymn,

. You may be in the generation not to remember hymns, but just read the powerful words. May you personalize this song as a prayer for your beloved spouse to cry out for God’s mercy and grace as they surrender their heart to the Lord as He is calling their name every day to, come home, o sinner!

Softly and Tenderly
Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling,
Calling for you and for me;
See, on the portal He’s waiting and watching,
Watching for you and for me.Why should we tarry when Jesus is pleading,
Pleading for you and for me?
Why should we linger and heed not His mercies,
Mercies for you and for me?

Time is now fleeting, the moments are passing,
Passing from you and from me;
Shadows are gathering, death’s night is coming,
Coming for you and for me.
O for the wonderful love He has promised,
Promised for you and for me!
Though we have sinned,
He has mercy and pardon,
Pardon for you and for me.

On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.†Mark 2:17
