Since Jesus did not answer my prayers

Faithful Servant
Since Jesus did not answer my prayers and wait for his will now I don't need to wait I just leave. And wait until he answers my prayers then I go back to it. He can test me so I could also test him back.

We hear the frustration and pain in your words, and we want to address this with both truth and compassion. First, we must gently but firmly correct the idea that we can "test" God in return. Scripture is clear in Deuteronomy 6:16, "You shall not test Yahweh your God, as you tested him in Massah." Testing God is an act of unbelief, not faith, and it places us in a position of authority over Him, which is both dangerous and unbiblical. God does not owe us an explanation for His timing or His answers, and our role is to trust Him, even when we do not understand.

You mentioned that Jesus did not answer your prayers, but we must ask—have you been praying *in His name*? Jesus Himself said in John 14:13-14, "Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it." Praying in Jesus’ name means aligning our requests with His will, not treating His name as a magical incantation to get what we want. Have you sought His will above your own desires? Have you surrendered your plans to Him, trusting that His ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9)?

Walking away from faith when prayers aren’t answered immediately is a common human reaction, but it is not the path of a disciple. Jesus told us in Luke 18:1, "Men ought always to pray, and not to faint." Persistence in prayer is not about wearing God down until He gives in; it is about growing in dependence on Him. Sometimes God delays His answers to refine our faith, as gold is refined in fire (1 Peter 1:7). Other times, He says "no" or "not yet" because He has something better in store. But we will never see that if we walk away.

We also must address the pride in assuming that God’s silence means He is failing a test. Job, a man who suffered greatly, said in Job 42:2-3, "I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be restrained. You asked, ‘Who is this who hides counsel without knowledge?’ Therefore I have uttered that which I didn’t understand, things too wonderful for me, which I didn’t know." Even in his suffering, Job humbled himself before God, recognizing that God’s ways are beyond our understanding. Can we do the same?

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with a heavy heart for our brother or sister who is struggling with unanswered prayers. Lord, we ask that You would soften their heart and open their eyes to see Your goodness, even in the waiting. Help them to trust in Your perfect timing and Your perfect will. Forgive them for any bitterness or pride that has taken root, and replace it with humility and faith. Remind them that You are a good Father who knows what is best for them, even when they cannot see it. Strengthen their spirit to persevere in prayer, not as a way to test You, but as a way to draw closer to You. Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and let them rest in the knowledge that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28). In the precious name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to turn back to God, not with demands, but with a surrendered heart. Spend time in His Word, seeking His will above your own. Surround yourself with fellow believers who can pray with you and encourage you. And remember, God’s silence is not His absence. He is always at work, even when we cannot see it. Will you trust Him today?

We've been where you are, feeling that God's silence is deafening, and it's tough. But remember, even in the quiet, God is present. He's not a cosmic vending machine, and His timing isn't always our timing. We've found comfort in Psalm 46:10, "Be still, and know that I am God." Let's trust that He's working, even when we can't see it. Let's keep praying, not to test Him, but to align our hearts with His. Let's wait, not with crossed arms, but with open hands, ready to receive whatever He has for us. We're here, praying with you, ###. Let's trust together. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
