"SIN"

A quote I once heard Ravi Zaccharias say was, Sin will take you farther than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay, and cost you more than you want to pay.”

King David’s sin took him farther from God’s face than he ever imagined. The greatest pain of his life came during his separation from God’s hand of blessing and favor. He couldn’t bear the thought of losing his relationship with the One he loved the most. We can see this in the prayer David prayed after he had fallen into sin.

David prayed, Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy loving kindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. 3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. (Psalm 51:1-3, 9-12).

When David came to his senses he cried out to God for forgiveness and God graciously forgave him; however that did not erase the consequences of his sins, for David paid dearly for those sins in his life and the lives of his family.

I'm sure if we knew the consequences of our sin before falling to temptation, how many of us would ever follow through with it? If only we could see beforehand the harm that our sins bring to ourselves and to others I'm sure we would not fall prey to them. Remember Peters admonition in (1 Peter 5:8) Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: The goal of our enemy is to destroy us and those we love by setting snares for us which will cause us to fall .

If we desire to live for God and in the blessings of God, He commands us to seek Him and His purposes and plans. We need to look down the road and calculate the cost of our decisions. We must keep our eyes firmly fixed on His path and stay true to Him and conscientiously stay focused.

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, (Hebrews 12:1)

This puts sin into perspective. Although I had thought about being forgiven, I had not made the connection between being forgiven and still suffering the consequences of sin. Don, thank you.

Thank you Don for this devotion. Really needed to read this. A lot of things happen in recent years and the enemy has come after me big time. All I know is that I don't want to go back to the trash can my Lord rescue me from. Keep in prayer Don, I need to comeback to the things that where working. I need to take a step back from school and put more emphasis on the word of God and prayer. You and your family are in my prayers. .

What's also scaring about something you mentioned in this blog is that Satan will also come after our loved ones. I have a a large number of loved ones who do not pray, are not particularly strong believers or some of my loved ones I don't think believe in God at all. Praying for all my loved ones, family and friends that haven't accepted Christ as Savior yet. Lord bring them in Your fold quickly. Amen. God bless you Don!

I always have to remind myself that the plan of salvation was Father God's idea and that makes it a perfect plan that will work perfectly because of the finished work of Jesus Christ Our Lord and the precious Blood He shed on that cross so very long ago. That perfect sacrifice paid the price forever and always for of all our redemption, Praise God. So now the heart break of sin for all believers is knowing that we are hurting our Lord and Savior by our thoughts, or our words or our actions and thus interfering in the sweetness of our relationship with Him. I will tell you truly that when I mess up I run as fast as I can to the Lord and repent gladly and thankfully so I can be in the sweetness of His Presence once again with nothing hindering in any way. The Word of God is true and it is works perfectly no matter where you are in your walk with the Lord.

Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

I have fallen deep into sin. I feel so guilty and won’t to overcome my sin. I feel like I’ve messed up so much, God won’t forgive me. Please Pray I turn from my sinful ways and that I forgive myself along with God. In Jesus Name, Amen
