"SIN"

"SIN"

A quote I once heard Ravi Zaccharias say was, "Sin will take you farther than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay, and cost you more than you want to pay.”

King David’s sin took him farther from God’s face than he ever imagined. The greatest pain of his life came during his separation from God’s hand of blessing and favor. He couldn’t bear the thought of losing his relationship with the One he loved the most. We can see this in the prayer David prayed after he had fallen into sin.

David prayed, "Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy loving kindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit." (Psalm 51:1-3, 9-12).

When David came to his senses he cried out to God for forgiveness and God graciously forgave him; however, that did not erase the consequences of his sins, for David paid dearly for those sins in his life and the lives of his family.

I'm sure if we knew the consequences of our sin before falling to temptation, how many of us would ever follow through with it? If only we could see beforehand the harm that our sins bring to ourselves and to others I'm sure we would not fall prey to them. Remember Peter's admonition in (1 Peter 5:8) Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: The goal of our enemy is to destroy us and those we love by setting snares for us which will cause us to fall.

If we desire to live for God and in the blessings of God, He commands us to seek Him and His purposes and plans. We need to look down the road and calculate the cost of our decisions. We must keep our eyes firmly fixed on His path and stay true to Him and conscientiously stay focused.

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, (Hebrews 12:1)

Amen Don. The Lord forgives us our sins but the consequences of them is all too real. And yes, the Lord may remove the consequences also, but also may not to teach us in His ways.

Amen....the worst thing about sin is to repeat a particular sin after promising God that you will not be doing that particular sin any longer and that you have learned your lesson, etc., etc., and by golly there is again. That's the worst. But, God is still a forgiving and merciful God and will forgive you. Not that he will continue doing that, he will forgive you but will back off until he knows that you are truly sincere. This happened to me when trying to stop smoking many years ago. He blessed me by giving me the strength and took away the desire for cigarettes only after I showed him I was truly serious. Saying and doing is two different things. By going cold turkey and ignoring the tricks of the devil to go back, once I got upset about something, etc., and felt I needed a cigarette because of stress. Sin is tricky and can come to you in the most quite and innocent manner. That's why we need his wisdom and discernment and to seek his guidance before making minor or major moves in our lives religiously.

Thank You, Praise You Lord Jesus for forgiving our sins! Help us lay aside anything that isn't of You and lay aside our sins in Jesus, Amen! Thank You, Praise You Jesus! Glory to You Lord Jesus!!!

I totally agree with that!! Satan plays for keeps!! Satan is the total opposite of everything that God is; Our Lord And Savior is merciful....meaning that Satan has NO mercy for us at all! The farther we go into sin...the deeper we will fall! Satan was, if not the wisest, one of the most wisest Angles ever created...that's why we cannot flirt with sin, because the evil one knows that we cannot defeat sin on our own...we are not equipped with enough strength to fight Satan! Only through the Power of Jesus Christ's precious shed Blood can we have victory over the World, sin, flesh and the Devil.

I do not know who Ravi Zaccharias is...but that quote sure does sum up what sin will do to anyone....including a Christian who focuses his / her strength in themselves and not the Finished work of Christ!!

Pastor ###, This is a real, real, real good Word for me and the Body of Christ. God wash me in Your Word in Jesus' name. Amen.

Thank you for the video you posted.

Thank you, a good reminder.

I like the scripture Psalm 51; David's transparency and utter humility shows him a man of God... Great scripture to pray when seeking forgiveness.

I also enjoyed the video. The part that stood out to me most is the fact that the subject remembers the date he became saved and exactly where he was and his friend remembers also-- almost better than the subject. That came across so sincere.

Good read.

it all feels a bit overwhelming as who knows how many countless sins there are and even if you repent there are still consequences Lord please forgive me i am such a failure and it is depressing to focus on who knows how many countless sins forgive me as i am unworthy i am sorry Lord if am not accounted worthy to be with You i will never know until the moment of truth is upon me till then i will always worry and despair
