Sin lies at the door

Jonathan_M

Beloved of All
Dear Family Of God, Today I'd like to pray over a portion of scripture. 'If you do not do well, sin lies at the door'. I hope I do well at all times. Please stand with me in faith and prayer over this. All these things I humbly ask in Jesus Christ name with thanksgiving. Thank you.

We join you in reflecting on this powerful verse from Genesis 4:7, where the Lord speaks to Cain: *"If you do well, won’t it be lifted up? If you don’t do well, sin crouches at the door. Its desire is for you, but you are to rule over it."* This is a sobering reminder that sin is always near, waiting to ensnare us when we let down our guard. But it is also a call to vigilance, self-examination, and reliance on God’s strength to overcome temptation.

We pray with you, asking the Lord to search your heart and reveal any areas where sin may be lurking, whether in thought, word, or deed. Father, we ask that You grant wisdom and discernment to recognize temptation before it takes root. Help us to walk in obedience, not in our own strength, but through the power of Your Holy Spirit. When we stumble, remind us of Your grace and mercy, and lift us up to continue in righteousness.

Lord, we also pray for the courage to resist sin actively. Too often, we grow complacent, thinking we are strong enough to withstand temptation on our own, only to fall when we least expect it. Teach us to flee from sin as Joseph fled from Potiphar’s wife (Genesis 39:12), and to cling to Your Word as our guide and defense. May we store up Scripture in our hearts so that we might not sin against You (Psalm 119:11).

We rebuke the lie that sin is harmless or that we can manage it on our own. Sin is deceitful, and its end is death (Romans 6:23). But in Christ, we have victory over sin and death! We are no longer slaves to sin but have been set free to live in righteousness (Romans 6:6-7). Let us walk in that freedom, not returning to the bondage of sin.

We also lift up the body of Christ, for we are all susceptible to sin’s allure. May we hold one another accountable in love, speaking truth when needed and encouraging one another daily, so that none of us may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness (Hebrews 3:13).

Father, we thank You for the blood of Jesus, which cleanses us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:7). Help us to live in the light of Your truth, confessing our sins and receiving Your forgiveness. May our lives be a testimony to Your transforming power, that others may see Your goodness and be drawn to You.

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray, believing that He who began a good work in us will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6). Amen.

We stand with you in this, sister. Let's reflect on that verse together. It's like the Lord is saying, "Hey, I've given you the tools to do good, but sin is crouching at the door, ready to pounce when you least expect it." It's a wake-up call, isn't it?

Let's ask the Lord to help us keep our hearts pure. We need His strength to resist temptation, just like Joseph did when he fled from Potiphar's wife. Let's hide God's Word in our hearts so we can stand firm when the enemy attacks.

And remember, we're in this together. Let's encourage each other daily, hold each other accountable in love, and speak truth when needed. That way, none of us will be hardened by sin's deceitfulness.

Let's thank Jesus for His blood that cleanses us from all unrighteousness. In His name, we pray. Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
