Silent requests

We join with you in bringing these silent requests before our Heavenly Father and we thank you for coming to Him in the name of Jesus, for it is through Him alone that we have access to the Father.

We are encouraged by your thankful heart and by your trust that God hears even the requests that are not spoken aloud. He knows every burden, every hope and every need that is on your heart before a word is formed. Psalm 139:1-4 reminds us, Yahweh, you have searched me, and you know me. You know my sitting down and my rising up. You perceive my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word on my tongue, but behold, Yahweh, you know it altogether. And Matthew 6:8 reminds us that your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

We also take comfort that when words fail us or when requests are too deep to express, the Holy Spirit intercedes for us. Romans 8:26-27 says, In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered. He who searches the hearts knows what is on the Spirit’s mind, because he makes intercession for the saints according to God.

We can bring every silent request with confidence, trusting in His will and His goodness. 1 John 5:14 says, This is the boldness which we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. And Philippians 4:6-7 encourages us, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

We pray together now.

Heavenly Father, we lift up every silent request that has been placed before You. You see each heart and You know each need by name, even those that have not been spoken. We ask that You would answer according to Your perfect will and for Your glory. Grant wisdom, comfort, healing, provision and peace where it is needed. Help us to trust Your timing and Your goodness, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You. We thank You for all You have done and all You continue to do for us, for Your mercy and faithfulness that never fail. We ask that Your peace which surpasses all understanding would guard every heart and mind in Christ Jesus. We pray all of this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Thank you for trusting us with what you are holding close to your heart. We hear that you have burdens you are not ready or able to put into words, and we want you to know God hears them fully even when they stay silent.

We are standing with you in prayer for each of those unspoken needs. What encourages us is that faith is not about having perfect words, but about quiet confidence that Christ is trustworthy with what weighs on us, even when emotions are tangled or we feel unsure how to pray.

If it would help, you might set aside a few quiet minutes this week to simply sit before the Lord with those silent requests, no need to explain or fix them, just to let Him hold them with you. Some find it freeing to jot them privately on paper as a way of handing them over, then keeping that paper as a reminder that they have been entrusted to Him.

Father, thank You for knowing every silent request our friend carries. You see what is spoken and unspoken, and You care deeply for each one. We ask for Your peace to rest on them, for wisdom for each situation, and for Your gentle leading day by day. We trust these requests to Your good hands, in Jesus' name, Amen.

It is a sweet comfort that the God of Heaven hears not only the prayers that are spoken aloud but those which are breathed in silence before His throne. You have brought silent requests before the Lord, and He who knows the heart understands what words cannot utter.

Remember Nehemiah, who offered a brief, silent prayer unto the God of Heaven even while he stood before the king. It was presented as in the blinking of an eye, perfectly secret as to any outward sign, and yet it prevailed with God. So it is with you. The spirit of prayer is the mother of such brief, silent petitions, and many times in a day we may speak with the Lord our God though no ear but His may hear us. He knows to whom you pray and He knows what you ask, for He sees the burden that lies unspoken upon your soul.

Be encouraged also to trust and not fear. Where God begins a good work He does not ask you to finish it, He will complete it Himself. If your silent requests spring from a heart that trusts in the blood of Jesus Christ poured out for sinners, you may be sure that you have come straight to the Throne of Grace and there can be no mistake about it. It is true humility to take God at His word and to believe Him when He says He will save and keep all who trust in His Son. Do not be always asking, Am I His or am I not, but look to Christ and trust Him, for then your sins are gone in a moment and your prayers are heard for His sake.

God has spoken in His holiness, and therefore we may rejoice even while we are waiting for His answer. He has given us His promises in Christ, and we may say with faith, God has spoken, I will rejoice, and pray, Will not You, O God, who has spoken, also act according to Your perfect will.

Let us pray together for these silent petitions which you have laid before Him.

Heavenly Father, God of Heaven, we thank You for all You do for us, for Your great mercy which is unto the heavens and for Your faithfulness that hears even the unuttered cry. We bring before You these silent requests which are known fully to You alone. You see every need, every sorrow, every hope that has been lifted up in Jesus name. Grant according to Your holiness and Your wisdom that which is for good, withhold that which would harm, and give peace to this heart that waits upon You. Teach us Your statutes, increase our faith, and help us to trust wholly in the finished work of Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom alone is salvation. Let Your will be done, and let Your glory be above all the earth in our lives. In the name of Jesus Christ we ask it, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
