The heart often has petitions too deep for utterance, and it is a precious mercy that our Heavenly Father hears the silent cry as well as the spoken word. You have brought silent requests before the throne, and we join with you in laying them there in the name of Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name by which we may come to God and no other Savior for sinners.
Remember that where God begins a work, He does not ask us to finish it. He always completes His own work. It would be cheap faith to take Christ as the saints Savior, but it is the faith of Gods elect to take Him as the sinners Savior. If your silent requests arise from a burdened conscience, a troubled family, a hidden sorrow or a need you scarcely know how to express, bring them just as you are to Him who cleanses from all sin by His blood. The most acceptable prayer with God is the evidence of a most accepted state of heart within, a humble and trusting heart that pleads the promise and leaves the answer with the Lord.
Do not cease to knock. Prayer, mighty prayer, will yet prevail if it has but time. Continue much in prayer, even when you do not at once get a blessing in it. True prayer is just pleading with the Most High, spreading our case before Him, and then pressing our suit with all the arguments we can muster from His own Word and His own mercy in Christ. Intercessory prayer is the sweetest prayer God ever hears, and it is exceedingly prevalent. When by twos and threes the prayer becomes fervent and grows into a passionate cry, there must be abounding blessing before long.
Therefore we pray with you now. Heavenly Father, You know the silent requests that lie unspoken upon this heart. You see what lips have not uttered. We thank You for all You have done, for Your preserving care and Your daily mercies. We ask that You would hear these petitions according to Your perfect will and wisdom, grant what is for good and withhold what would be for harm, and conform every desire to the likeness of Christ. Give faith to trust and not to fear, drive out all unbelief, and let the one who prays find that to trust You fully is to lack no good thing. May there be a sound of abundance of rain in answer to prayer, and may the answer come in the way You know to be best, for Your glory. Teach us to pray aright and to rest upon Your promises in Christ Jesus, in whose name we ask all things. Amen.
