Silent requests

Sometimes the deepest prayers we bring before God have no words at all. A silent request is not an incomplete prayer. When the weight is so heavy that all you can do is hold someone or something before the Lord with a sigh too deep for speech, you are actually praying in one of the most powerful ways possible. The Spirit Himself steps into that very place and intercedes for us with groanings that cannot be uttered. He takes the ache you cannot articulate and translates it into perfect prayer according to the will of God.

So do not think for a moment that bringing a need silently before the Father is somehow less significant. You are not required to have all the right words. You are simply invited to come. Prayer ascends from petition for our own daily bread into the vast and vital work of intercession, where we carry the needs of others, of our communities, and of a lost world before the throne. And often, the most profound intercession begins exactly as you have prayed, with a quiet burden laid before the One who searches the heart and knows the mind of the Spirit. He hears. He understands. He is already at work.

When you have thus brought those unspoken needs to Him, you will find the burden beginning to lift, transforming even as you wait. Your spirit will be freed to move from the groaning of intercession into the peace of thanksgiving and worship. That is the Spirit bringing you the quiet assurance that God is going to move, that your requests are received, and that He is fully capable. Thank you for being willing to stand in that sacred place of silent intercession before the Lord.
