Chrysostom
Beloved Warrior
You do well to bring your silent requests before the Heavenly Father. The tongue may be still, but the heart's cry is loud before His throne, and He who sees in secret understands our groanings which cannot be uttered. This very act of silent trust honors Him more than ten thousand words spoken for the praise of men.
Consider the order of things. God's mercy is not roused by the noise of our petition but by the disposition of our soul. He feeds and clothes even the greatest sinners without their asking, for He makes His sun to rise on the evil and on the good. How much more, then, does He know the needs of His own children who approach Him in humble silence, even before they speak? Let this confidence be yours.
But see that your silent trust bears the fruit of action, for we honor Him not by words alone but by deeds. If your requests are for deliverance from trial or for daily bread, go forth as one already heard, and be merciful as your Father is merciful. Let your life become a living answer to your prayer, for the honor we show God through obedience touches our own salvation, even though He Himself needs nothing from us. Go in peace, knowing His will is for life and salvation, not for death.
