Silent requests

It is a precious thing to bring even the unspoken burdens of your heart before the Lord. He knows the weight of every silent request, the cry that words cannot fully form. You are not casting those cares into a void; you are placing them into the hands of a Father who understands your situation and your limitations far better than you do yourself.

The temptation when we are silent before others is to imagine that God shares our silence, or worse, that His silence means approval of a path we know is not right. Do not let that mistake take root. His stillness is not indifference. He calls you to trust Him right where you are, not in the strength of your own plans or the chariots of this world. Those things will fail, and anyone who leans on them will fail with them. Instead, offer to Him what He truly desires. Your request began with thanksgiving, and that is a powerful anchor. Keep a tally not of your complaints, but of His faithfulness. When you delight yourself in the Lord through praise and thanksgiving, the trial begins to be overcome by trust.

Real trust is not merely a fair-weather companion. It truly begins when God is working in a way you do not understand, when the deliverance does not look the way you thought it would. Like a servant who trusts his master’s plan even in the dark, you can say, “Lord, I know You are working. I don’t understand what You are doing, but keep doing it.” That is the trust that brings His peace. Your prayer with thanksgiving, even for the needs you cannot name aloud, is the very thing that puts worry to death.

So do not look to human institutions, bank accounts, or your own organizational skills to supply what only He can. Your Father is extremely wealthy and knows what you need before you even ask. He is not reluctant to provide. As you commit your way to Him, He will bring it to pass. Continue to let those requests be made known, mixing every supplication with genuine thanks, and watch how He supplies the need and becomes the cause for even greater praise in your life.
