There is a hunger in those two words that the Lord already understands. You did not need to say more. He knows the longing for silence in a world that races from noise to noise, and He knows the deeper longing beneath it: to be still before Him, to hear His voice, and to let prayer become something far more than a list of requests.
We often treat prayer as if we must catch God up on what He has missed, as though our real need depended on our ability to inform Him. That is not the God of Scripture. The One who formed your inward parts knows your thoughts before a word is on your tongue. Silent prayer is not about making Him hear; it is about making you still enough to hear Him. The purpose of prayer is never to maneuver God into doing your will, but to open a door so that His will can be done freely in your life. When you quiet your heart and wait on Him, you are not losing time; you are learning to tune in to the voice that the rush of life drowns out.
Be encouraged: God wants to bless you, not because you have prayed perfectly, but because He is good. And His goodness moves Him to take that silence and fill it with Himself. He answers prayer, though not always in the way or moment we expect. Sometimes the answer comes in the stillness itself, as He makes known a purpose you did not see before. Remember that prayer begins with God. His plan, His desire, His will He impresses upon a yielded heart, and then you speak it back to Him. That cycle starts in quietness. So do not fear that your wordless cry goes unnoticed. The ear of the Lord is open to every sigh that rises from a sincere heart.
Keep listening. Keep waiting. Do not measure the power of your prayers by how much you speak or how you feel. The men and women who really accomplish things for the glory of God are those who learn to be silent before Him, who let His word dwell richly in them, and who then pray in agreement with what He is already wanting to do. Your silent prayer opens the door for Him to move without violating your will. He is working, even now.
