Beloved of All
Hello, I signed up to receive emails about job openings. This month the number of job openings have increased so if it is the Lord’s Will, I’ll go through each listing. Father I ask you in Jesus name to help me discern which positions to apply for and to bless each application and the recruiters/hiring managers. I am in my 50’s and I’m embarrassed. I have not shared that I’m looking for work with those who I cannot trust. They don’t even know that I’m unemployed. They don’t need to know. I just apply and trust you for timing and provision. My govt benefits will arrive soon so that I can pay the remaining bills. I pray to get off the govt assistance soon as it’s been 5 months. Want to be self-sufficient again. I worked for over 20 years in an abusive environment thinking that it was your will to tolerate abuse. That was very skewed thinking. I left and am now diligently searching for work and pray that I will catch up on back rent soon. I am also thankful for life. Please help me to replenish my income and keep a roof over my head.

We lift you up before the Father in the mighty name of Jesus, thanking Him that you have turned to Him in trust and dependence during this season of transition. Your heart to seek His will in this job search is pleasing to Him, and we join you in asking for His divine guidance and provision. The Lord sees your diligence, your embarrassment, and even the wounds from the abusive work environment you endured for so long. He is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). You are not hidden from Him, and He is faithful to restore what has been lost as you walk in obedience.

It is clear that you have carried the weight of this burden alone, trusting only the Lord with your struggle. While we understand the caution in sharing your circumstances, we gently encourage you to consider the wisdom of Proverbs 11:14, which reminds us that "where there is no wise guidance, the nation falls, but in the multitude of counselors there is victory." There may be trusted believers in your life—perhaps in your church or among mature Christians—who could offer support, prayer, or even practical help as you navigate this season. You do not have to bear this alone, and the body of Christ is meant to uphold one another (Galatians 6:2). If there is no one you can trust, we urge you to seek out a biblical community where you can find godly encouragement. Isolation can often magnify shame, but the Lord desires to free you from that weight.

We also commend you for your desire to move away from government assistance. While it has served as a temporary provision, your heart to be self-sufficient aligns with the biblical principle of working with your hands so that you may have something to share with those in need (Ephesians 4:28). The Lord honors this attitude, and we pray that He will open doors for you to not only meet your needs but to flourish in a way that allows you to bless others.

As for the abusive environment you endured, we want to speak truth over you: the Lord *never* calls His children to remain in abuse. Tolerating mistreatment is not godliness—it is a distortion of submission and endurance. The Lord calls us to suffer for *righteousness’* sake (1 Peter 3:14), not to endure ungodly treatment as though it were His will. You were wise to leave, and we pray that the Lord heals the lies you may have believed about your worth or His character during that time. You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and He has plans for your welfare, not for harm (Jeremiah 29:11).

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we lift our sister before You, asking that You would guide her steps as she seeks employment. Lord, You know the desires of her heart and the needs she carries—financial provision, a roof over her head, and the ability to catch up on her obligations. We ask that You would open doors that no man can shut (Revelation 3:8) and give her favor with recruiters and hiring managers. Grant her discernment to recognize the positions that align with Your will, and give her the wisdom to present herself well. Remove any fear, anxiety, or shame that may hinder her, and replace it with Your peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:6-7).

Father, we also pray for restoration in every area of her life. Heal the wounds from the abusive workplace and renew her mind with Your truth. Remind her that her identity is not in her employment status but in Christ alone. Provide for her in ways that exceed her expectations, and let this season be a testimony of Your faithfulness. If there are trusted believers You would have her confide in, bring those connections to light, Lord. Surround her with Your people who can encourage and uphold her.

We rebuke any spirit of embarrassment or isolation and declare that she is seen, known, and loved by You. Break off any lies of the enemy that would keep her bound to shame or fear. Let her trust in You grow deeper as she waits, knowing that You are her Provider (Genesis 22:14).

Lord, we also thank You for the government benefits that have been a temporary help. We ask that You would quickly provide a job that not only meets her financial needs but also allows her to use her gifts and skills for Your glory. Let this new season be one of joy, purpose, and freedom in You.

Finally, Father, we pray that she would continue to seek You first in all things (Matthew 6:33), trusting that You will add everything she needs as she walks in obedience. Strengthen her faith, guard her heart, and let her testimony be one of Your goodness and provision.

In the mighty and precious name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord daily, asking Him to align your steps with His will. Keep your eyes on Him, not the circumstances, and trust that He is working even when you cannot see it. If you have not already, consider fasting and praying for breakthrough—there is power in seeking the Lord with humility and persistence (Matthew 17:21). We are standing with you in faith, believing that God will provide abundantly. Keep us updated on how He moves in your life!

We're praying for you, sister. We're asking the Lord to guide your steps, to open the right doors, and to give you favor with recruiters and hiring managers.
