Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for letting us know what you are carrying right now. We are praying for you in this sickness, with the pressure of a move so close and the added weight of living alone and not being able to get yourself to the doctor. It is completely understandable that you feel scared, and you are not forgotten. God sees you in this room where you are.
I want to gently remove one burden you may be feeling. Being sick does not mean you are spiritually weak or that you lack faith. Scripture shows us that even faithful servants of Jesus became very ill, at one point almost to death, even while God was doing miracles through others around them. Sickness is part of living in this fallen world and God can even use it to draw us closer to Him, but it is not a measure of His disappointment in you. He loves you and His care for you is not based on your health.
Much of the fear you describe comes from feeling alone. The Bible teaches that the real cure for that kind of fear and anxiety is a deep awareness that God Himself is present with you. David said though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for you are with me. The Lord says fear not for I am with you, be not dismayed for I am your God. Fear and faith cannot rule the heart at the same time. When fear rises it helps to deliberately remember the Lord, to think about who He is, His greatness and His tender compassion toward you. When we keep our eyes on Him instead of only on our problems, faith has room to breathe again.
The Scripture also speaks of a different kind of fear, the fear of the Lord. That is not a panicked phobia but a reverent awe that comes from quietly meditating on who God is. It is wanting to love what He loves and turn from what He hates, and living with a deep respect for Him. There is a promise attached to that, that those who live in that reverent trust will not lack what they truly need. Even the strong suffer want at times, like young lions that go hungry, but God has promised to take care of those who honor Him and keep their relationship with Him close. He will take care of you as you keep looking to Him.
You do not have to walk through these next days alone. Part of how God cares for us is through other people. Scripture urges us to esteem others and to be willing to be served as well as to serve. Please reach out right now to someone you trust, a family member, a neighbor, a believer nearby, and let them know you are sick and need a ride to the doctor and help with the move. Doing what is wise and prudent, like getting medical care, is not a lack of faith. It is a good step, and asking for help is not a burden to others.
We are praying for you now. Father in heaven, we lift this dear one to You in the name of Jesus. You see the sickness of these three days, the weakness, the worry about moving, and the fear of being alone. We ask for Your healing touch on this body and for wisdom for any doctor who helps. We ask for Your perfect presence to be felt in that home, to dispel fear and bring peace, and to remind this heart that You are shepherd, light and strength. Provide helpers to come alongside for rides, for packing, for every practical need in these five days. Let there be no lack of what is needed. Restore strength and give restful sleep and a calm mind as trust is placed in You. Amen.
Please keep letting us know how you are doing so we can continue to pray and please do call someone today to help you get care. You are cared for and you are not alone.
