Sick son

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious child who is suffering from illness in his lungs and kidneys. Father God, we know that You are the Great Physician, the One who heals all our diseases and binds up our wounds (Psalm 103:2-3). We declare Your promises over this young life, that by Your stripes he is healed (Isaiah 53:5), and that You will restore him to full health according to Your perfect will.

Lord, we ask for Your healing touch to flow through his body, bringing strength to his lungs and cleansing to his kidneys. We rebuke every spirit of infirmity in Jesus' mighty name, and we command his body to align with Your divine design for wholeness. May Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard his heart and mind as he recovers (Philippians 4:7).

We also pray for wisdom and discernment for the doctors and medical team treating him. Guide their hands and minds, Lord, as they care for him, and let Your healing power work through their efforts. We trust in You, Jehovah Rapha, our Healer, and we stand on Your Word that says, "I am the Lord who heals you" (Exodus 15:26).

If there is any unforgiveness, bitterness, or unconfessed sin in this family that may be hindering his healing, we ask You to reveal it and bring repentance and restoration. We know that the prayer of faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will raise them up (James 5:15). We declare that this child is covered by the blood of Jesus, and no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

Father, we also ask for strength and comfort for the parents and family members. Give them faith to trust in You even when the circumstances seem overwhelming. Remind them that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). May they find rest in Your presence and hope in Your promises.

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.

We are holding you and your son close in prayer right now. When a child is sick, especially when it touches something as essential as breathing and the body’s filtering system, every report, every sleepless night, can press heavily on a parent’s heart. The weariness can be its own kind of heavy. So we simply want you to know that you do not carry this alone.

One of the quiet strains of a lingering illness is how it narrows a family’s world. Hospital rooms, treatment schedules, and the constant monitoring of symptoms can crowd out the ordinary rhythms of life, including time with the church family that is meant to hold you up. When someone is too drained to attend a service or join a small group, they often miss the very fellowship that could steady them, and that loss is real. If you have not already, would you let one or two trusted people from your church know what would actually help this week, maybe a meal, sitting with your son so you can rest, or even just handling a single practical burden? Sometimes we hesitate to name a concrete need, but it gives others a way to love you both right where you are.

We also want to gently encourage you, amid the prayers, to keep the medical professionals fully in the loop with any changes you are seeing. Our prayers and their care go hand in hand, not one instead of the other.

Lord Jesus, we lift this son to you, his lungs, his kidneys, his whole body. Bring healing where it is needed, ease his breathing, restore what is not working as it should. Give his parents steady strength and clear wisdom for each decision. Surround this family with your peace that outlasts every anxious thought, and let them sense your nearness even in the longest hours. In your name, Amen.

The cry of a parent for a suffering child reaches the ear of our merciful God, and I am moved to join my prayers with yours, entreating the Lord for the healing of your son's lungs and kidneys. These are days when the frailty of our flesh is laid bare, and we are brought to that blessed desperation which casts itself wholly upon the Lord. Remember this: He who formed those lungs and kidneys is able to restore them with a word. The same power that made the heavens and the earth is not daunted by disease, for our Lord Jesus Christ went about healing all manner of sickness, and His arm is not shortened that it cannot save.

Let us not rush to the apothecary without first falling on our knees. True healing is found in Him who is the Word of God, for the leaves of that Tree of Life are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ possesses overflowing virtue. Bring your son to Jesus in prayer, not with a tidy, measured petition, but with the groaning that staggers under the weight of your love, the kind of prayer that has no artful arrangement because the heart is at its wit's end. That is the prevailing prayer, the cry that enters heaven while it is yet trembling on the lips. Plead the promises, argue from His own character, and lay hold upon the truth that Christ took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses upon the Cross. He is the Good Physician, and His wounds purchase not only pardon but also the healing of all our ills.

Yet, as we beg for restored health for your son, search your heart and look to your own soul. The sickness of the body is often a mirror of the deeper sickness of sin, and God may be using this furnace of affliction to draw you and your household nearer to Himself. The inhabitant of Zion shall not say, “I am sick,” because forgiveness and healing are woven together in the glorious work of salvation. If there be any secret sin harbored, any trust in your own merit rather than the merit of Christ, confess it now. The Lord heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds, and the first miracle is always the cleansing of the conscience by the blood of the Lamb. Seek first His forgiveness, and the healing of the body will follow as He wills. Do not be a mere looker-on at the gate of mercy; come boldly to the throne of grace with your son in your arms of faith, and leave him there in the hands that were pierced for sinners. Pray on, even if the answer tarries. The dark hour before the morning is not the moment to abandon the mercy seat. God’s silence is not denial, and His delays are not refusals. He hears, He cares, and He will make all things work together for good to those who love Him. Lay hold of the hem of His garment now, for virtue streams from Him to every sin-sick, disease-stricken soul that looks to Him.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Such an affliction pierces the heart of a parent, and you do well to bring this burden to the Lord of all. Remember the Apostle Paul, who when he yearned for his brethren prayed night and day exceedingly, not only to see their face but to perfect what was lacking in their faith. In the same spirit, let your cries for your son’s lungs and kidneys rise without ceasing, yet seek not merely the mending of flesh but the perfecting of both his soul and yours through this trial.

Our Lord Himself, when He walked among us, often healed on entreaty, yet He required faith as the measure of His mercy. To the blind men He did not say, "Believe ye that I can entreat the Father," but, "Believe ye that I am able to do this?" For He is the Very Son of God, the true Light that dawns upon every man, and all power belongs to Him. Draw near then with boldness and the words of a humble heart: "Speak the word only, and my son shall be healed." Do not consider Him as a mere man, a king of Israel only, but as the Lord of all creation, who out of great lovingkindness delays even judgment that sinners might turn and live.

Yet if the healing tarries, do not lose heart. For as a tree may bear ten strokes and seem unmoved, only to fall by one blow that finishes the work of all, so often souls that hear the word many times without visible fruit later bring forth an abundant harvest. Persist, then, and do not grow weary. The Lord who arranged that Abraham should offer up Isaac before Him, that He might seem to do nothing great in giving His own Son, will not forget your tears. He who did not spare His only Begotten, how shall He not with Him freely give us all things? Even David, when his friend Jonathan was taken, continued to show steadfast love to his children. How much more will your heavenly Father care for your child, in body and in soul?

I join my supplication to yours, praying that the light of the glorious Gospel may dawn upon your son, restoring his strength and filling him with the knowledge of the Son’s love. May he, being raised up, walk as a child of God, hearing and keeping Christ’s commandments, and in so doing love both the Son and the Father. And remember, whether in healing or in prolonged trial, the Lord’s purpose is ever to lead you from earthly entreaties to the confession of Peter: "Thou art the Son of God," and to make you a partaker of everlasting consolation. Cease not, therefore, to knock at the door of His mercy, for the prayer offered in faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up.

It is heartbreaking to see a child struggle with sickness. I cannot imagine the weight on your heart as you watch your son battle with his lungs and kidneys. I want to point you to the only one who can truly help.

When Jesus walked among us, He healed all who came to Him in faith. I think of the centurion who understood authority and simply trusted that Jesus could speak a word and his slave would be healed, even at a distance. I think of the nobleman whose son lay sick miles away, and Jesus declared him well, and the life returned to that boy. Distance is no barrier to the Son of God. His word carries power over every physical ailment, every failing organ.

In the Gospels, a paralyzed man was lowered through a roof by his friends. They wanted him to walk again. But Jesus first looked at their faith and said, Your sins are forgiven. That might have felt like a disappointment in the moment. Yet it revealed something deeper: our greatest need is always to be made right with God. However, Jesus did not stop there. He went on to heal that man’s body, telling him to rise, take up his bed, and walk. He did it so everyone would know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins and to restore what is broken. He is the same yesterday and today.

The Scriptures teach us that when someone is sick, they should call for the elders of the church to pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer offered in faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them up. I urge you to reach out and let the elders minister to your son in this way. Do not carry this burden alone. There is no room number I can give you, no special night on a calendar, but the principle remains: let the leadership of the church come alongside you in prayer.

When Isaiah prophesied about the coming Messiah, he said, He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses. Matthew directly connects that promise to Jesus’ physical healings. It is not just spiritual healing; He cares about our bodies. He is the Son of God, declared with power by His resurrection from the dead. He has authority over the physical realm, the material realm, and the spiritual realm. The demons recognized it; the centurion at the cross recognized it. The great question we all must answer is the one Jesus asked: Who do you say that I am? Is He merely a teacher, or is He the Son of the living God?

I cannot tell you why every sick person is not healed in the way we hope, in the timing we want. There are mysteries we do not understand this side of eternity. But I know that the Father, who did not spare His own beloved Son but gave Him up for us all, will not withhold any good thing from those who trust Him. Your son’s situation is not outside His notice or His power.

Bring your son to Jesus in your heart, with all the faith you can muster. Call the elders. Be anointed with oil, and let the prayer of faith rise. Then trust the Son of God to do what only He can do, whether He speaks a word of healing or carries you both through the trial, He will be with you.
