We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your beloved dog in prayer. We know how deeply you care for her, and we join you in asking for God’s healing touch. The Bible reminds us in Psalm 147:3 that the Lord "heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds." Though this verse speaks of human hearts, we trust that the One who created all living things also cares for the creatures He has placed in our care.
Father, we ask You to guide the hands of the veterinarians and all who are tending to her. Grant them wisdom, discernment, and compassion as they seek to restore her health. We pray for an increase in her platelet count and for a clear path to healing, whether through medical treatment, Your divine intervention, or a combination of both. You are the Great Physician, and nothing is too difficult for You (Jeremiah 32:27).
We also take a moment to reflect on the love and responsibility You’ve entrusted to us as stewards of Your creation. Genesis 1:28 tells us that You blessed mankind and commanded us to "have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the earth." This dominion is not one of cruelty or neglect, but of care, protection, and compassion. We are grateful for the joy and companionship our pets bring into our lives, and we ask that You help us honor You in how we love and tend to them.
Lord, we rebuke any spirit of fear or anxiety that may be weighing on our hearts. You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). We trust in Your goodness and Your plans, even when the road ahead feels uncertain. Strengthen our faith as we wait on You, knowing that You are working all things together for good (Romans 8:28).
We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the only name by which we can approach Your throne of grace. There is no other name through which healing, hope, or salvation can come, for us or for the creatures You’ve placed in our care. We thank You for the love of Christ, which compels us to pray and intercede for one another, and for all of Your creation.
Heavenly Father, we ask that You would surround this precious dog with Your healing power. Let her body respond to treatment, and let her platelets rise to healthy levels. Comfort her in her weakness, and grant her peace as she rests in Your care. We also ask for Your peace to fill the hearts of those who love her, that they may trust in You fully and find rest in Your promises.
We declare that Your will be done in this situation, Lord. Whether through healing, strength, or another path You have ordained, we trust in Your perfect plan. Thank You for hearing our prayers, for Your unfailing love, and for the hope we have in You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

In anxious seasons, anchoring ourselves to what is steady right now, no matter how small, keeps us from being swept away by everything that could go wrong. And know that loving your dog and sitting with her in the quiet of the kennel, if they let you, is itself a form of care that matters. You don't need to do more than be there.

The least thing about Christ is healing, even the leaves of that tree of life carry virtue for the nations. Yet here you plead not for a soul made in God’s image, but for the beast of the field. Your compassion is not wrong, for a righteous man regards the life of his animal, but let this creature’s frailty be a glass through which you see your own mortal need. The dog sickens with a failing blood; what of your own soul’s taint, that deeper fever which no earthly physician can touch? The healing you seek for this poor creature is but a shadow of that greater healing which comes from the pardoning hand of Christ. Forgiveness and healing are placed in happy conjunction, and the Lord gives both when His people look not for them.
The power to heal was conspicuously present when Christ taught, linking healing with His word. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. While you send up cries for your dog, have you yourself heard His voice with heed? Do not be more anxious to repair the perishing body of a pet than to secure the immortal soul. The leaves of that tree change the very lifeblood, affecting the spirit and making the nature other than it was. That healing must come before any true service or wholeness. The Savior first heals, then we rise to minister; first there is the touch of His hand lifting us from our prostrate fever. Do not despise the power of persistent, humble prayer even in a matter like this. Consider how the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master's table. You are not wrong to bring this creature before God, for His mercy extends over all He has made. Yet let your faith be not in the mere restoration of platelets but in the Giver of all good things, who can heal and who grants eternal comfort and good hope through grace. The prayer of the faithful does great things. So bring your request continually, not with frantic worry as those without hope, but with the words of Scripture sweet in your mind, meditating day and night on His law. For the soul that hangs over this fountain enjoys a great calm even in storms.
But do not seek comfort in the empty thought that this suffering is merely physical and to be escaped by any means. True comfort comes from our being stablished in every good work and word, from trusting that even what is displeasing can train us in patience. If you have heard the spiritual teaching, let it be written on your heart like a royal inscription. The devil flees from a mind careful about divine matters. So let this trial be the occasion for you to run more often to this house of healing, the Church, and let your petitions be joined with almsgiving and the practice of virtue. Thank you for letting us know about your dog. I am praying now, asking the Lord to restore her platelet count to normal and to give the veterinarians clear insight for the right treatment. It is never a small thing when a beloved pet suffers, and it is right to bring that burden straight to God.
The Scriptures show us a Savior who was moved with compassion time and again. I think of the men who tore through a roof to lower their paralyzed friend in front of Jesus. They had no guarantee, but they believed He could help, and they refused to let obstacles keep them from placing their friend at His feet. Jesus honored their faith, though He first spoke to the deepest need, the forgiveness of sins, before healing the body. As we pray for your dog, we can trust that God’s concerns are wider than ours, yet He still invites us to cast every care on Him because He cares for us, and His eye is on every creature He has made.
Why some are healed and others are not remains a mystery we cannot fully unravel. Even the Apostle Paul pleaded three times for a thorn to be removed, yet God’s answer was that His grace was sufficient without the physical deliverance Paul wanted. That does not mean Paul lacked faith, and it would be wrong to pile guilt on ourselves or think we have not prayed enough when the outcome is not what we long for. Healing rests in God’s sovereign hands, and His ways are beyond tracing out.
What we can always do is cry out honestly, like the disciples in the storm when the boat was swamped and Jesus seemed asleep. “Lord, don’t you care?” they called, terrified. He did care. He stilled the wind and the waves, and He stills the fears that rise within us. Right now, your dog’s life is in the care of the One who notices even a sparrow. Bring your anxiety to Him again and again.
I will keep joining you in prayer for mercy, whether that comes through a direct touch or through the wisdom of the medical team. And while you wait, may you feel the peace that surpasses understanding, the peace that comes from knowing your life, and the life of this little one you love, is held securely in the hands of a good and sovereign God.
