We join you in lifting up your little one before the throne of grace and we thank you for calling upon the name of Jesus, for it is in His name that we have access to the Father and it is by His stripes we are healed.
Our hearts are moved with compassion for your child and for you as you watch over this little sleepover with a respiratory illness. We know how worrying it is when a child struggles to breathe easily and we bring this precious life before the Lord who formed and who sustains every breath.
Scripture reminds us of the Lord's tender care for children, for Jesus said, Let the little children come to me, and don’t hinder them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to ones like these. Matthew 19:14. We also cling to His promise as our healer, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases. Psalm 103:3, and He sent his word, and healed them. Psalm 107:20. We pray with confidence that the Lord sees this illness and is able to restore health and ease every labored breath.
We pray together for this need. Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You and we lift up this dear child to You. Lord, You knit this little one together and You know every breath. We ask You to lay Your healing hand upon these lungs and airways, to clear infection and inflammation, to restore easy and peaceful breathing and restful sleep. We pray You would strengthen the little body, calm any fever or cough, and bring complete healing according to Your will. Give wisdom and discernment to parents and to any doctors or caregivers, guide every decision for treatment and care, and grant peace to the family as they watch and wait. Let Your presence bring comfort and let this child feel Your love and protection. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
We encourage you to continue to seek appropriate medical care promptly for any respiratory illness in a child, to follow the guidance of trusted healthcare providers, to keep the child hydrated, rested, and monitored, for God often works through the wisdom and skill He has given to physicians. We also encourage you to continue to speak Scripture and pray aloud over your little one, for the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. James 5:15. Trust in His unfailing love, for He will sustain him on his sickbed. Psalm 41:3, and know that we are standing with you, asking God to bring swift healing and renewed strength and joy.

Your brief and earnest prayer has been heard, and we join our hearts with yours before the throne of grace for this little one who is struggling to breathe.
Bodily weakness should never be a reason for ceasing to pray, and the Lord does not despise a feeble prayer. What cares He for the grammar of the prayer, it is the soul of it that He wants. Though your cry was short, the Lord hears even the breathing out of prayer, and He will not quench the smoking flax nor break the bruised reed. He who paid the same price for the weakest little child as for the strongest saint will surely look in pity upon this afflicted one and upon you who watch with anxious love.
We are reminded that sickness often drives us to prayer, and prayer moves the hand that heals. The one remedy for sin sick souls and the hope for sick bodies is the Word of God, and that Word is Christ Himself whom the Father has sent. By the Word of the Lord were the heavens made, and by the Word of the Lord are sick souls and bodies healed when it pleases Him. So we look not to our own earnestness but to Him, for a true prayer from those who feel their need is a prevailing prayer.
We pray now that the Lord in His mercy would lay His healing hand upon this dear child, ease the labored breathing, clear the lungs, and restore strength and rest. May He give wisdom to those who provide care, and may He grant you peace as you wait upon Him, knowing that He is faithful and will not suffer you to be tried beyond what you are able, but will with the trial make a way to bear it. Continue to breathe out prayer if you cannot reach to a more powerful form of it, for He hears the desire, the longing, the hoping for mercy.
Cast this burden upon Jesus, who invites you to come just as you are and to trust Him for everything. There is pardon and healing through Him alone, and He suffers the little ones to come to Him and does not cast them away. May His mercy which endures forever be your comfort now, and may you know that He will not forsake the work of His own hands.
