I had a discussion with my pastor about this issue.
I appreciate your post very much ###, but there is something that is missing here or you seem not to understand. It does not mean that people who communicate the Word of God are not merciful and not loving, that you seem to be implying here. On the contrary, the Bible clearly says that people who choose to be silent when God’s truth is misrepresented are lukewarm Christians, meaning “comfortable Christians.” Such people stand quietly and say nothing when God’s Word is misrepresented because it is the “most popular choice.” They do not want to offend somebody, they do not want to get involved, etc. Lukewarm Christians also love to say to those who defend God’s Word that they “should not judge” or they judge them by saying that such people have no mercy and do not love those people that they are confronting.
Lukewarm Christians are neither on fire for God and His truth nor cold- meaning rejecting Him and His Word. Lukewarm Christians know God’s truth but when placed in a situation like the one with ###, they act like that problem doesn’t exist and doesn’t not concern them at all because it is much easier not to get involved. Yes sure, we have to pray for people silently, but we also have to take stand when God’s Word is being misrepresented. The hypocrisy of lukewarm Christians is sickening to God. If we hear something ungodly and simply ignore it like nothing is wrong, we should question our convictions, don’t you think? Are we really convicted of God’s truth?
Imagine if we go to Church and our pastor just prays silently and never preaches the gospel and never corrects people in love with God’s Word. What do you think would be happening? Is that pastor not merciful and out of love, when he corrects us and provides guidance, and tries to win souls for Christ? ### was freed thanks to not only to our prayers but also to the fact that somebody did something about it. God wants us to act on top of praying. When it comes to unbelievers, we have to pray for them but also present them with God’s Word and that fact does not make us unloving and not merciful. On the contrary, by getting involved we show our love and mercy on their poor souls because we want them to get saved.
We have to be aware that this may be the only place where ### gets to hear the Gospel. Are you going to approach her and do something about what she is doing or stand there and do nothing? God has called me to act and that is exactly what I am doing and if other people think that I do not show mercy to her by doing so, let them think that. I am accountable to God and not to other people.
I will tell you one thing, as hard as it is for some people to stand up for God’s truth, it is much harder to live with the consequences of failing to provide the Biblical truth to non-believers. I am not sure about others, but I do not want her blood on my hands if she doesn’t get saved and is thrown into the lake of fire. I will not force her to get saved but at least I am presenting the Word of God and putting her in a position to choose which Master she wants to serve. God is not only calling us to pray for the world but to act by preaching the Gospel.
Matthew 7: 16-17 “By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thorn-bushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
James 2:17 “So you see, faith by itself isn't enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.” We can’t just pray and believe that God will save her. We have to do something about presenting her with God’s Word.
Revelation 3:15 “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!”
