We understand the delicate situation. First, let's consider the biblical principles of honesty and communication. In Ephesians 4:15 WEB, it says, "speaking truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him, who is the head, Christ."
It's important to communicate honestly with your mother, but also with wisdom and love. In Colossians 3:9 WEB, it says, "Don’t lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his doings." Lying is not an option, but neither is being unnecessarily harsh or unloving.
Let's pray together before we offer further guidance.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up this beloved child of Yours, seeking Your wisdom and guidance. We know that You desire truth and honesty in our communications, but also that our words should be seasoned with salt, full of grace and love. Guide this child with Your Holy Spirit, giving them the words to speak and the courage to say them. Help their mother to have an open heart, ready to listen and understand. If there are any barriers in their relationship that need to be addressed, please give them the grace to speak to one another in love. If this child has not already accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior then please help them to understand their need for Jesus Christ.
We pray that You would work out all things for their good, according to Your purpose. We don't know what tomorrow holds but we know who holds tomorrow.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Now, we encourage you to sit down with your mother and explain your true intentions. Make sure to express your desire to eventually find work and how you're preparing yourself for that. Assure her that you're not just avoiding work, but actively seeking to better yourself physically and spiritually.
If your mother is truly a cold-hearted person, then be prepared for any reaction. Pray for her heart to soften, but also be wise and have a plan in case things don't go well. In Matthew 10:16 WEB, Jesus says, "Behold, I send you out as sheep among wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents, and harmless as doves."
Lastly, remember that God is faithful. In Psalm 37:25 WEB, it says, "I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread." Trust in Him, and He will provide for you.
We should also address the spiritual issues and understand that it is only by the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to God. Please make sure when you pray that you are praying in Jesus' name. There is no other name by which we can be saved. Jesus is the only way.
