We hear your cry for help and stand with you in this struggle, lifting you up before the throne of grace. The Bible warns us about the love of money and the temptations that come with it, for "the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows" (1 Timothy 6:10 WEB). Shopping addiction often stems from deeper issues—whether it be seeking fulfillment, coping with emotions, or trying to fill a void that only God can satisfy.
Let us rebuke the spirit of greed and materialism that has taken hold of your heart. We declare that your identity is not in what you own but in Christ, who has already given you everything you need. "Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, 'I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you'" (Hebrews 13:5 WEB). We pray that God would break the chains of this addiction and replace your desires with a hunger for His presence and His Word.
Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, asking for Your healing and deliverance for our ###. Lord, You know the depths of this struggle—how it has weighed on their heart and perhaps even affected their finances, relationships, or peace of mind. We ask that You would reveal the root of this addiction, whether it be loneliness, stress, or a misplaced sense of worth. Replace these lies with Your truth, Lord. Let them know that their value is found in You alone, not in possessions or the temporary high of a purchase.
We pray for wisdom and self-control, that the Holy Spirit would empower them to resist temptation. "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB). Give them the strength to turn away from impulsive spending and to seek Your will in all things. Help them to create boundaries, whether it be avoiding triggers, seeking accountability, or finding godly counsel.
Lord, we also pray for contentment. Teach them to be satisfied with what You have provided, trusting that You will meet all their needs according to Your riches in glory (Philippians 4:19 WEB). Let them find joy in simplicity and gratitude, rather than in the fleeting satisfaction of material things. May their heart be turned toward eternal treasures—faith, love, and the hope of Your kingdom.
We stand in agreement with this dear one, believing that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20 WEB). May they experience Your peace that surpasses all understanding as they surrender this struggle to You. We declare victory over this addiction in Jesus' name, for "if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed" (John 8:36 WEB).
Continue to seek the Lord in prayer and His Word, for it is through Him that true transformation comes. Surround yourself with fellow believers who can encourage and hold you accountable. Remember, "God is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one" (2 Thessalonians 3:3 WEB). You are not alone in this battle—we are praying with you, and God is fighting for you.
