Hello my friends, I am sorry I have not posted anything for a while, my faith was being tested and God gave me a few revelations on these matters. I won't go into details about what happened because speaking poorly of someone's actions brings dishonor to them and we need to honor everyone, especially our wives, even when it looks like we shouldn't.
1 Peter 3:7 "Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers." Also, I will not say things because my wife is not the enemy; she is just held captive by the enemy.
Now, this is not what this post is about, as you read in the title, it's about the shield of faith, which my brothers, I have not been using the past few days. I have had a few people come ask me how do I have such strong faith that my marriage will be restored, and honestly, I don't have any stronger faith than any of you. I waiver as much as the next person, and I worry as much as any of you. I take back my situation from God and try to fix it myself at times, and of course, that's when things fail again. And God has to start over and fix the mess I made. It came to me that faith is not just knowing that He will do something for us; if we are thinking that way, then we are going about this all wrong. We don't need to have faith that our situation will be fixed; we need to have faith in God that His love is more powerful than any situation that is thrown at us. In fact, we wouldn't even have a chance to have faith nowadays if it wasn't for Jesus suffering for our sins.
Hebrews 12:2 "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."
Since it's a shield of faith and Jesus is the author of our faith, then it makes sense to say that Jesus is our shield of faith. So we shouldn't have faith in the situation being fixed; we should have faith in Him, period. I want you to think about the Spartans for a minute. They used their shield in battle a lot; their shields were their victory point because they knew if they couldn't survive an attack, then they themselves could not attack. They marched behind their shields, knowing it would stop the arrows, darts, swords slashes, or anything else from hitting them. So they had faith in their shield.
If we don't know what our shield is or how it is used, then how can it protect us? Excuse me, I should say if we don't know who our shield is and how He protects us, then how can He protect us? We have to trust in Him and let Him protect us; we have to call out His name when we feel attacked, which I should have done.
My friends, if we have faith in Him, then no attack can hurt us. "No weapon formed against me shall prosper" Isaiah 54:17. We need to have faith in Him; why can't we just see that? I am sorry, my friends, but this is why our marriages fell apart; this is why our wives have left us or are thinking about it, because we did not have the faith in Him; we did not trust Him to lead us and our family correctly. I am sure some of you are saying well, I did; I put God first in my marriage. All I can say to you is you need to really pray and meditate on that statement. Ask God to reveal to you where you went wrong because God is perfect, and everything He leads is perfect and will not fail. We let sin in, our doubt in our marriages; maybe we even spoke divorce in an argument, and it brought it to life. What I am getting at, my friends, is trust in Him, trust in Him, trust in Him, trust in Him, and most importantly, trust in Him.
I cannot stress this enough; if we trusted in Him, put Him first in our whole lives, then we would not be here in pain. I am not saying that if we trust in Him and put our faith completely in Him, bad things won't happen, but I am saying if we put our trust in Him, our faith in Him, then it won't matter to us when they do happen. If we would have been the spiritual leaders of our families and guided our families in His presence, then sin would have had no door to enter.
I am sorry this is such a serious post, but this is a serious matter. We need to put our complete trust in Him, give all of our burdens to Him, and trust that His kingdom come and His will be done, then we should have nothing to worry about because our shield is always there; it's whether we choose to stand behind Him and march behind Him as He, our shield of faith, leads us to victory.
