Sherri please forgive Joe

We join with you in lifting up ### and ### before the Lord in this need for forgiveness, and we thank you for bringing this burden to prayer.

We know how difficult it can be to both seek forgiveness and to extend it, but Scripture is clear that forgiveness is not optional for those who follow Christ. We are commanded to forgive as we have been forgiven. Ephesians 4:32 says, Be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. And Colossians 3:13 says, bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any, even as Christ forgave you, so you also do. Jesus Himself taught in Matthew 6:14-15, For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. And in Mark 11:25 we are reminded, Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father, who is in heaven, may also forgive you your transgressions.

We do not know the details of what has happened between ### and ###, but we know that all of us have sinned and fallen short, and we all need the forgiveness of God first. If ### has sinned against ###, we encourage him to humbly and honestly confess what he has done without excuse, to take responsibility and to repent before God and before her. 1 John 1:9 promises, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. True repentance bears fruit in a changed heart and changed actions. And for ###, we gently encourage you that holding onto bitterness and unforgiveness will only bring a root of bitterness that defiles and hardens the heart as warned in Hebrews 12:15. Forgiveness does not mean that what was done was not wrong or that trust is automatically restored, but it does mean releasing the debt to the Lord and choosing to extend the same grace we have received. Psalm 103:12 reminds us how completely God forgives us, As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

We also notice this request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and can both receive and give true forgiveness. There is no other way. John 14:6 says, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 declares, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is because Jesus shed His blood on the cross for our sins and rose again that we can be forgiven at all. If either ### or ### has not yet put their trust in Him, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for Romans 10:9 promises you will be saved. We urge you both to make your relationship with Jesus the foundation for any reconciliation.

If ### and ### are in a courtship or romantic relationship, we pray that you will pursue it in a way that honors God, with purity and with the goal of godly marriage between a man and a woman if it is His will, fleeing from fornication and seeking to glorify Christ in all things.

We pray together now.

Father in heaven, we come before Your throne in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and we thank You that You are a God of mercy and forgiveness. Lord, we lift up ### to You, and if he has sinned against ###, we ask that You would bring conviction and godly sorrow that leads to repentance, and give him the humility and courage to confess and to seek forgiveness sincerely. And for ###, we ask that You would soften her heart, heal any hurt and pain, and give her the grace and strength to forgive as You in Christ have forgiven her. Remove any bitterness, anger, or resentment and replace it with Your peace and tenderheartedness. Help them both to speak the truth in love and to pursue peace as far as it depends on them according to Romans 12:18. Let Your will be done in their relationship, and let reconciliation, where it is according to Your will, bring glory to You and draw them both closer to Jesus. We ask that both ### and ### would know the depth of Your forgiveness and walk in newness of life. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We are holding your request for ### and ### with care. Wanting forgiveness for people we love is a heavy burden to carry, and it matters that you brought it to the Lord instead of holding it alone.

One thing that has helped many of us is understanding that forgiveness often happens in layers. There can be a quiet decision to release the right to get even and to wish the other person well, and then over time the deeper emotions of hurt, anger or fear slowly soften. That second part rarely happens all at once. Forgiveness also does not automatically mean everything returns to how it was before. Rebuilding trust is separate and takes willingness from both people, and sometimes forgiveness is given even while boundaries remain.

If you are close to ###, a steady way to help is to keep praying for both of them by name without pressuring ###, and to encourage ### to take responsibility humbly if he has not had a chance to do so sincerely and briefly, leaving the response in ###'s hands and in God's timing.

Father, we lift ### and ### to You. You see the hurt that has come between them and the longing for peace. We ask You to soften hearts, bring healing where there is pain, and give both of them wisdom and grace for whatever next step is right. Lead them toward what is whole and true, and help the one praying to rest in Your care as well. In Jesus' name, amen.

There is forgiveness with God that He may be feared, and He is a God ready to pardon. Your request that ### may forgive ### touches upon that great and necessary grace which must first be sought from heaven before it can be rightly shown to one another.

Divine pardon is the only forgiveness possible, for no one can remit sin but God only, and it is also the only pardon necessary. It wells up from an infinite fountain, for mercy which endures forever is the attribute from which that pardon springs. This pardon is no sham and no superficiality. It is pardon beyond all question, pardon which weighs well in the scales of judgment and acts as balm to the wounds of conscience. It was purchased with heart's blood, for the Just died for the unjust, and through Gethsemane and Golgotha it is proved beyond controversy that there is forgiveness even for the chief of sinners.

We must be proven guilty and confess it before we can be forgiven. The pardon does not rest with our knowledge of sin but with God's knowledge of it, and therefore that pardon is complete which comes from the all seeing God. He blots out our sin now, at any moment the sinner believes upon His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, through whom alone salvation is found. Tears will not blot out a single sin, nor will penitence deserve it, but Christ has borne the judgment and His blood secures abundant pardon for all who turn to Him in repentance and faith.

I pray that both ### and ### will first seek this present, conscious and enjoyable pardon from God Himself. If wrong has been done, let it be confessed honestly before the Lord, without excuse, and let each look to Christ alone for mercy. Low thoughts of God create doubts of pardon, but high thoughts of God beget hope, and hope leads to confidence in His promise, I will pardon them whom I preserve.

And as you have received forgiveness, so be enabled to give it. Our Lord has taught us to pray, Forgive us our sins as we also forgive everyone that is indebted to us. As God for Christ's sake has forgiven you, so also forgive one another. If there has been offense between you, seek reconciliation in truth and holiness, walking henceforth in purity and in keeping with the Lord's good design, that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman and that all intimacy belongs within it. Whatever has caused this breach, bring it into the light before God and forsake what is sinful, that your lives may be ordered in righteousness.

May the Lord grant to ### a heart to forgive even as she has been abundantly pardoned, and may He grant to ### a humble heart to confess and to seek both God's forgiveness and, where he has done wrong to his fellow, to ask forgiveness as he is bound to do. May He lead you both to the fountain of His mercy in Christ, to healing and pardon, and to a life that sings concerning that pardon which breathes life into hearts dying of despair.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We have heard your request that ### would forgive ###, and we bring it before the Lord with you, asking for His mercy to be at work in both hearts.

Scripture teaches us that nothing is so characteristic of a Christian as mercy, and that we love mercy because we ourselves continually need it and pray, Have mercy upon us according to Your great goodness. Christ took on our flesh for love alone, that He might become a merciful and faithful High Priest to make reconciliation for our sins, and having first shown such mercy to us, He calls us to follow Him by showing mercy to others. The Lord taught His own disciples to pray, forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors, and promised, Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy, while also warning that judgment without mercy will be shown to those who have shown no mercy.

So we pray for ###, that God would give her a merciful soul, strength to release any bitterness or desire for revenge, and grace to forgive as she has been forgiven in Christ. We pray for ###, that he would honestly confess whatever wrong he has done before God, seek forgiveness through Jesus Christ alone who is the only way of salvation, and walk in repentance and truth. For both, we ask that the Lord would heal what has been broken, guard them from sin, and lead them to live according to His good design, where forgiveness, purity and faithfulness reflect His own character. May He grant repentance where it is needed, comfort where there is hurt, and a deeper trust in His unspeakable mercy toward us.

We ask this in the name of Jesus our merciful High Priest. Amen.
