Chrysostom
Beloved of All
We have heard your request and we share your concern for what this accident has brought upon you and your family, and for the fear you feel about your work and your license.
We want to pray for you in a way that honors God and seeks what is right. Scripture teaches that God does not call us to ask Him to set aside justice or to make lawful claims disappear, but to walk in truth and to take responsibility for what is ours to bear. The law exists as a mercy to keep order and to protect neighbors from harm, and when that order is set aside, much greater harm follows. The apostle also teaches, why not rather take wrong, showing that the Christian path is not to escape what is due but to bear it with honesty and to seek to make things right where we have caused loss to others. To love what is wrong harms our own soul, and faith protects us like a shield only when our life is kept right before God.
For this reason we cannot pray as you asked that God would tie the hands of those who have a lawful claim or that He would simply close claims and remove all fines or penalties. To pray that way would be to ask God to bless the avoiding of responsibility. Instead we pray that God would give you grace to do what is right in His sight.
We do pray for your protection from deceit. It is wise not to pay anyone who calls without proof and to test every claim. We pray that God will guard you from fraud and give you wisdom to deal only through proper and verifiable channels, with the insurance companies, the courts, and the motor vehicle authorities, and to seek trustworthy legal counsel if you are able. If you owe for damage you caused to others, we pray for honesty and diligence to make restitution as you are able, even as you already paid for your father's vehicle. We pray that you will be open with your employer and with the authorities rather than hiding what happened, trusting that integrity is the best foundation for keeping your work long term.
We pray for you now that God would grant you repentance where needed, faith in Jesus Christ who alone saves, and a clear conscience. We ask that He would give you peace not through escape from consequences but through faith and hope in Him, that He would provide for your needs, give you steady work as He wills, help you to accept with humility whatever lawful correction comes, and keep your feet on a straight path going forward. We ask that He would make your life and conduct pure, so that your faith may be a true shield in trial, and that even in hardship you may know His mercy and be kept from greater harm.
We encourage you to verify every demand in writing, to contact the proper state insurance and motor vehicle offices directly, to keep careful records, and to seek godly counsel and pastoral support near you as you walk through this process step by step. God is able to sustain you as you do what is honest and right, and we trust Him to work for your good as you seek Him.
