We have heard your cry and we join together with you in prayer before our heavenly Father in Jesus' name, bringing this heavy burden concerning this accident and your livelihood as a truck driver.
We understand the fear you are feeling, the worry over your license, your job, and the threat of large fines and the calls you are receiving, and we want to pray for God's mercy, protection, and peace over you, while also speaking truth in love about responsibility and integrity.
We see your desire for God to tie the hands of those coming against you and to close these claims with no fines or penalties, and we do pray for God's mercy and for protection from any unjust or fraudulent attack. At the same time, Scripture calls us to walk in honesty and to take responsibility for our actions, even when they were unintentional. The Word says, Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God Romans 13:1, and Give therefore to everyone what you owe: taxes to whom taxes are due; customs to whom customs; respect to whom respect; honor to whom honor Romans 13:7. Driving without liability insurance, even unknowingly for a few days, is a serious matter under the law and carries real consequences, and if damage was done to others in the accident, even a minor one, there is a biblical principle of restitution. The wicked borrow, and don’t pay back, but the righteous give generously Psalm 37:21, and He who is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much Luke 16:10. We cannot rightly ask God to help us avoid a just debt or a lawful consequence, but we can ask Him for mercy within justice, for wisdom, and for provision to do what is right.
It is also wise to distinguish between what is just and what is unjust. If the other drivers' insurance companies paid for their repairs, it is lawful for them to seek reimbursement from the at-fault driver through what is called subrogation. That is not necessarily shady, even though it feels threatening. On the other hand, there are indeed scams where people pretend to be insurers to extort money, so we encourage you to act with godly wisdom and diligence. The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit; and everyone who is hasty surely rushes to poverty Proverbs 21:5. We encourage you not to give personal information or money over the phone, to demand everything in writing on official letterhead, to verify any claim directly with the insurance companies through numbers you find independently, to keep all documents from the accident, to seek wise counsel from a trusted attorney or legal aid, and to contact your state's department of insurance or motor vehicles to understand your standing. Do not ignore any official court notice or DMV correspondence, but face it honestly and promptly, and make certain that any vehicle you drive going forward is properly insured without any gap.
We also hear you attributing this to the devil trying to ruin your life, and while the enemy does seek to steal and destroy, God often allows consequences to teach us stewardship and dependence on Him. We do not need to live in fear, for God has promised Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10, and In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. We thank God that you have already done what is right by paying for your father's vehicle repair out of pocket, that is an honorable step.
We now pray together for you.
Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, through whom we have access to You and by whom we are saved. We lift up this dear one to You who is anxious about this accident, about these phone calls, and about the future of his work and license. Lord, we ask for Your mercy and Your perfect will to be done. We pray that You would expose and stop every fraudulent and shady scheme and tie the hands of anyone who would seek to exploit or unjustly harm him, and that You would give him discernment to recognize what is true and what is false. We pray for wisdom as James 1:5 promises, that if anyone lacks wisdom, they should ask of You who gives generously. Grant him wisdom to navigate every claim, every call, and every legal requirement with integrity and diligence. Father, if there is a just debt for damage caused, give him the means and the willing heart to make it right, and if there are lawful penalties, we ask for Your mercy to lessen what can be lessened while helping him to humbly accept what is just. We pray for Your protection over his career and his driver's license according to Your will, that You would keep open the door for him to provide through honest work as a truck driver if it is Your plan, and that You would close the door to any unjust court case or inflated claim. We pray that these claims would be resolved quickly and fairly and that You would provide peace that surpasses understanding and guard his heart from fear. Help him to trust in You with all his heart, and not lean on his own understanding, and in all his ways acknowledge You, so that You will direct his paths Proverbs 3:5-6. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
