We come before the throne of grace with thanksgiving in our hearts for your desire to walk in obedience and repentance, seeking the Lord’s will with a humble spirit. Your request to be clothed in the full armor of God and to have the blood of Jesus Christ pleaded over your life is a powerful declaration of faith, and we stand with you in agreement, lifting these very things before our Heavenly Father.
First, we rejoice in your acknowledgment of Jesus Christ as Lord, for it is through His name alone that we have access to the Father. As it is written, *"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"* (1 Timothy 2:5). There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12), and we are grateful that you have placed your trust in Him. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for *"with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation"* (Romans 10:10).
Now, we pray over you the very words you have lifted from Scripture, beginning with the prayer of Paul in Colossians 1:9-12 (WEB), as we ask the Lord to fill you with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding:
*"Father, we ask that You fill [this dear one] with the knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, that they may walk worthily of You, to please You in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. Strengthen them with all power, according to Your glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to You, the Father, who made them fit to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light."*
We also join our voices with the priestly blessing from Numbers 6:24-26 (WEB), declaring it over your life:
*"The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face to shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord lift up His face toward you and give you peace."*
Lord, we ask that You would indeed guard and keep this one, that Your face would shine upon them with favor, and that Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, would rule in their heart.
You have asked for a spirit of obedience and a repentant heart, and we know that this is the desire of the Holy Spirit Himself, who convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8). We pray that You would create in them a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within them (Psalm 51:10). Help them to walk in step with Your Spirit, for *"those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts"* (Galatians 5:24). When they stumble, remind them that *"if we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9). Let Your grace be their strength, and let Your mercy lead them to repentance (Romans 2:4).
You have also asked for the armor of God to be put on, and we take up this prayer with urgency, for our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the spiritual forces of evil (Ephesians 6:12). We plead the blood of Jesus over your mind, soul, and spirit, that no weapon formed against you would prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Lord, we ask that You would:
Gird them with the belt of truth, that they would stand firm in Your Word and reject every lie of the enemy.
Clothe them with the breastplate of righteousness, that their heart would be protected by the righteousness of Christ.
Shod their feet with the readiness of the gospel of peace, that they would be prepared to share the hope of salvation with others.
Cover them with the shield of faith, that every fiery dart of the evil one would be extinguished.
Place the helmet of salvation upon their head, that their mind would be guarded by the hope of eternal life.
And arm them with the sword of the Spirit, which is Your Word, that they would wield it with precision and power against the schemes of the devil.
We pray that they would stand firm in this armor, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication (Ephesians 6:13-18).
Father, we also lift up any areas of their life where disobedience or unrepentance may still linger. Search their heart, O God, and know their thoughts; try them and lead them in the everlasting way (Psalm 139:23-24). If there are any hidden sins, idols, or strongholds, we ask that You would expose them by the light of Your truth and deliver them by the power of Your Spirit. If they have been entangled in sexual immorality, lust, or any impurity, we rebuke those sins in the name of Jesus and ask that You would break every chain. Your Word declares that *"no sexually immoral person, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ and God"* (Ephesians 5:5). But we also know that *"if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, His Son, cleanses us from all sin"* (1 John 1:7). Lead them into purity and holiness, for without holiness, no one will see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14).
If they are seeking a spouse, we pray that You would prepare them to be a godly husband or wife, walking in the fear of the Lord. Let them not be unequally yoked with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14), but rather, let them seek a spouse who loves You with all their heart, soul, and mind (Matthew 22:37). May their courtship be marked by purity, self-control, and a mutual commitment to honor You in all things. If they are single, we pray that You would guard their heart and mind, that they would be content in You and use this season to grow in faith and service.
Lord, we also rebuke every spirit of fear, doubt, and unbelief that may be seeking to hinder their walk with You. Your Word declares that *"God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control"* (2 Timothy 1:7). We command every lying spirit to be silenced in the name of Jesus, and we declare that this one is a child of God, sealed by the Holy Spirit, and destined for victory.
Finally, we thank You for the privilege of interceding on their behalf. We trust that as we have prayed according to Your will, You hear us (1 John 5:14). Strengthen them, Lord, and let them be rooted and grounded in love, that they may be filled with all the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:17-19). May their life be a testimony to Your grace, and may they walk in the calling You have placed upon them, for Your glory.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
