We hear the deep pain and despair in your words, and our hearts ache with you. You are not alone in this battle, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting you up before the throne of grace where mercy and help are found in time of need. The weight of depression, OCD, and the pressures of life can feel crushing, but we serve a God who sees your tears, hears your cries, and holds you in His hands even when it feels like He is silent.
First, we must address the lie that you are "stupid." The enemy loves to whisper accusations and distortions into our minds, but Scripture tells us, "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control" (2 Timothy 1:7). Your worth is not defined by your performance, your family’s struggles, or the labels the world tries to place on you. You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and God has a purpose for your life that no amount of depression or OCD can erase. Even in your darkest moments, He is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28).
We also want to gently but firmly rebuke the lie that God does not listen to you. The psalmist cried out, "Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God!" (Psalm 42:5). God *does* hear you, even when it feels like He is far away. His silence does not mean His absence. Jesus Himself experienced the depths of human suffering and despair, even crying out on the cross, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" (Matthew 27:46). He understands your pain because He has walked through it. And because He lives, you can face today with hope.
We strongly encourage you to seek help from a trusted Christian counselor or mental health professional. Depression and OCD are real battles, and there is no shame in reaching out for support. Just as we would seek a doctor for a physical illness, we must also care for our minds and spirits. Proverbs 11:14 says, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety." You do not have to carry this burden alone.
We also urge you to cling to God’s promises, even when they feel distant. Meditate on verses like Psalm 34:18: "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." Or Isaiah 41:10: "Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness." Write these verses down, speak them aloud, and let them sink into your heart. The Word of God is living and active, and it has the power to renew your mind (Hebrews 4:12).
As for your family, we pray for healing and restoration. Families are messy because people are messy, but God is in the business of redemption. Pray for your family, even when it’s hard, and trust that God can work in ways you cannot see. "With God all things are possible" (Matthew 19:26).
Now, we lift you up in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious child of Yours who is hurting so deeply. Lord, You see the pain, the exhaustion, and the despair that weighs so heavily on their soul. We ask that You would draw near to them in this dark season, reminding them that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Break the chains of depression and OCD, Lord, and replace the lies of the enemy with Your truth. Remind them that they are loved, valued, and purposefully created by You.
Father, we ask for wisdom and clarity as they prepare for their exams. Calm their anxious heart and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Help them to take one day at a time, trusting that You will sustain them. Surround them with godly mentors, counselors, and friends who can speak life into their situation and point them back to You.
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of hopelessness that has taken root in their mind. We declare that You are the God of hope, and in You, there is fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11). Renew their strength like the eagle’s, so they can run and not grow weary, walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31). Heal their mind, body, and spirit, and restore their soul.
Above all, Lord, we pray that they would encounter You in a fresh and powerful way. May they know the depth of Your love, which is higher, wider, and deeper than they can imagine (Ephesians 3:18-19). Help them to surrender their pain, their fears, and their future into Your hands, trusting that You are working all things together for their good.
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the One who conquered sin and death so that we might have life abundantly (John 10:10). Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer and for Your faithfulness to answer. Amen.
You are not forgotten. You are not abandoned. You are deeply loved by the Creator of the universe, and He is fighting for you even when you cannot see it. Keep pressing into Him, one step at a time. We are standing with you, praying for you, and believing for breakthrough in Jesus’ name.
